Attempt to update from the manager leads to that

I'm getting this now. I'm not able to update custom nodes as needed either.

The cause may be Git's safe.directory setting.

I encountered a similar error, but the owner of the ComfyUI directory was different from the running user.

I confirmed that the warning disappeared when I ran git config --global --add safe.directory {/path/to/ComfyUI} as the running user.

Thank you so much for this. Was really pulling my hair our on this one. Issue popped up after a fresh Windows install. Your tip worked. Many thanks!

Hello @mattbirk6 @mochidroppot
First I appologize for my basic question below,
I'm trying to fix the same error by typing the (git config --global --add safe.directory {/path/to/ComfyUI}) and I substituted the {/path/to/ComfyUI} with the actual path {\Programs\AI image editor\ComfyUI_windows_portable_nvidia_cu128\ComfyUI} but I get the below error;
error: wrong number of arguments, should be 2
Could you please assist me a bit! Thank you.

white space in your path cuts off the command. Consider quote your path with " or '
