Hi there. Firstly, thank you all for creating this great tool!
I had a working install of ComfyUI on my WSL Ubuntu, running comfyui in a miniconda environment. I nuked it by running git --hard inside the specific custom node (as adviced in the issues of that custom node...), which created problems. Seems I hard reset my entire comfy install. I could understand that it was my error and I reinstalled everything, after seeing this problem of installing nodes by the manager and other strange behaviors, probably because of the reset.
Plus, yeah, I probably installed too many custom nodes. I was just starting off.
I reinstalled everything, including a fresh Unbuntu on WSL. This time I went for Cuda 12.9 Pytorch 2.9, still Python 3.10.
Everything seems to work properly, until this morning where I get this error message again...
I already installed some custom nodes. This time only the ones I really use in my workflow. Most pf them well known custom nodes. Nothing outlandish like before. I also checked for conflicts of custom nodes and while I am probably missing something here, it seemed to me that the conflicts are mostly unrelated, because I avoid using conflicting nodes in the same workflow.
Or are those conflicts global and the mere presence of conflicting nodes can cause issues??
What could cause this problem? Should I reinstall and downgrade to older versions? I believe I had Cuda 12.8 before, same pytorch, same python and same conda. Or should I go to Cuda 12.9.1?
I am not aware that I did something completely wrong. Another hint I do have is that my ComfyUI install still shows that I am running the frontend 1.23.4, while I do have the latest installed.
If I install the respective node via console, it works, but kinda defeats the point of using the manager.
Thanks! I would really appreciate some directions on this, since it's kinda essential that the manager works.
Here is the log from the console after I clicked install on the Ultimate Upscale custom node:
[ComfyUI-Manager] default cache updated: https://api.comfy.org/nodes
[ComfyUI-Manager] All startup tasks have been completed.
[ComfyUI-Manager] The ComfyRegistry cache update is still in progress, so an outdated cache is being used.

I also see this in the console when starting ComfyUI. Maybe it's related?

The ComfyUI-Manager has been updated to provide more informative error messages.
Please update ComfyUI-Manager, try again, and check the error message.
@alFrame commented on GitHub (Jul 24, 2025):
Thank you! Seems fixed. Fingers crossed :)
