Running Comfyui portable in a wsl/docker container via comfydock, the manager shows correct versions of everything and acts normally. However, usually after creating a new container for a new version of ComfyUI i have to adjust permissions, for someone when permisisons are changed ComfyUI manager stops detecting ComfyUI's version correctly.
This doesn't seem toaffect ComfyUI or the managers ability to operate or download/setup custom nodes.
Frankly I'm not sure if this a comfyUI, manager, or simply just a system permission issue.

This too happened to me today , not sure what is going on but UI manager is facing several issues lately !
@ltdrdata commented on GitHub (Sep 14, 2025):
It is recognized by checking the git tag and git commit hash of the cloned ComfyUI. The
ComfyUI/.gitpath must exist and be accessible from the running ComfyUI.@Psylenceo commented on GitHub (Oct 11, 2025):
My issue was resolved. It's because I run comfyui in a docker container, and the approach i used to "copy" directories etc into the container instead of mounting them, caused a few directories to change permissions, creating a new container and mounting the directories vs copying them + creating a script to add groups and group permissions fixed my issue.
