The linkStore is now the single source for slot connectivity in both
directions. The NodeInputSlot.link field and all runtime write sites are
gone; a read-only prototype getter derives the id from the store and
fires warnDeprecated as extension migration telemetry (no setter, so
writes throw). Wire format unchanged: serialization derives
inputs[].link from the store.
The mirror-carried association machinery is reworked rather than
papered over: fixLinkInputSlots consumes the serialized graph data
(where node.configure reorders inputs in place), dynamicWidgets' group
rebuilds carry slot-to-link association in a WeakMap refreshed from the
store, reorderSubgraphInputs captures outer links by pre-reorder index,
and link deduplication selects survivors from the store registration -
repairInputLinks is deleted because the derived view cannot be
inconsistent.
Extension migration: read via node.isInputConnected(slot) /
node.getInputLink(slot); mutate via node.connect() /
node.disconnectInput().
The linkStore is the single source for output-side connectivity. The
NodeOutputSlot.links field and all nine write sites are gone; a
read-only prototype getter derives the array from the store and fires
warnDeprecated as migration telemetry for extensions (no setter, so
writes throw). INodeOutputSlot keeps links as deprecated readonly so
'links in slot' discriminants still compile. Wire format is unchanged:
serialization derives outputs[].links from the store, and serialized
operators (linkFixer serialized branch, migrateReroute, unpackSubgraph
strip) are untouched; linkFixer now completes a missing input mirror
instead of deleting a store-registered link.
Also fixes createTestSubgraphNode minting duplicate node ids (the
fixture never reserved the id it assigned) and promoted-widget labels
not inheriting the source slot label - both previously masked by the
mirror or the id collision.
Extension migration: read via node.isOutputConnected(slot) /
node.getOutputNodes(slot); mutate via node.connect() /
node.disconnectOutput(). Design record: docs/architecture/
output-slot-connectivity.md Decision 6.
getOutputSlotLinks now returns ReadonlySet<LinkTopology> instead of link
ids: floating links draw ids from a separate counter, so a bare id cannot
be resolved safely through graph.links, and the migrated readers need
endpoints anyway. Migrated: minimap link extraction, slot-drag disconnect
check (one store query replaces a mirror read plus a slotFloatingLinks
scan), widget value propagation, and matchType link revalidation.
rerouteNode/widgetInputs/groupNode stay on the mirror deliberately - they
read inside connection callbacks whose behavior depends on mid-mutation
mirror staleness - as do the serialized-workflow repair tools. Design
record updated.
Adds a derived per-graph reverse index over link origins to linkStore,
exposing isOutputSlotConnected / getOutputSlotLinks as the output-side
mirror of the input queries. Target and origin slot keys are branded
separately so a key built for one index cannot be looked up in the other.
NodeSlots now passes connected to InputSlot and OutputSlot from the store;
the lg-slot--connected class reaches the dot via CSS, so SlotConnectionDot
needs no new prop. Design record in docs/architecture.
LGraph.clear() and configure() reassign the root graph id, so the badge
system now resolves it on every recompute instead of capturing it at
start; a captured id stranded the system on a dead bucket after
Clear Workflow, dropping every badge on nodes added afterwards.
LGraph.add registers the node in the badge store only after
onNodeAdded: the store write wakes the system watcher and queues Vue's
flush, which must not overtake the deferred paste scan that surfaces
missing-model errors before selection-scoped tabs recalculate.

Wrapper aggregation counts inner api nodes (the old unconditional
per-api-node badge basis) rather than resolved credits rows, so a
pending async price still yields 'Partner Nodes x N'; the label is
localized via nodeBadge.partnerNodesCount. useNodePricing now caches
labels per signature: a leaf's own read and its wrapper's
promoted-override read previously shared one cache slot and evicted
each other, re-scheduling evaluations forever once both ran in eager
system effects.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A per-node effect flushing between unregisterNode and its scope being
stopped could re-create the bucket key and resurrect a removed node's
registration. Row writes (registerBadge, setBadgesOfKind) now require
an existing registration; registerBadge returns undefined when refused.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Badges go straight to plain BadgeData rows in a dedicated store,
written by a reactive badge system; core badges materialize as rows
too, killing the dual derivation and positional slice(1). Adds badge
vocabulary to the domain glossary and repoints the node-data-store
badges row.

Decisions 1 (single NodeState object, proxy-returning registration) is
agreed; field set, slot scope, and consumer contract are drafted pending
review. Records the shipped inputs[].link reader migration.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Link geometry is still removed from the layout store in the current
node-removal flow; the target-architecture matrix now marks the
SlotConnection write as future work; the proto-ECS inventory narrows
LayoutStore's link source to geometry.
Adds the missing link topology store design record, amends ADR 0008
(linkStore/rerouteStore amendment, Link and Slot component notes, new
supporting-document rows), and corrects the migration plan, target
architecture, proto-ECS store inventory, lifecycle scenarios, entity
interactions, and entity problems docs to match the shipped stores:
target-input-slot keying, root-graph-scoped buckets, derived reroute
membership, deleted layout-store connectivity mirror, and deleted
slot._floatingLinks sets.
Share EMPTY_MEMBERSHIP from the store, stop creating buckets inside the
membership computed, align registerRerouteChain's graph param with
registerLinkTopology, unnest the dedup id allocator, tighten store test
assertions, and clarify the design record (updateEndpoint guard,
load-time orphan drop).
## Summary
Adds a branded local `NodeId` helper and starts separating local node
identity from serialized workflow IDs.
## Changes
- **What**: Adds central `NodeId` parsing/branding helpers, migrates
nearby widget identity types, keeps queue results at the serialized
boundary, and removes misleading workflow `NodeId` usage from execution
error maps.
## Review Focus
Check that the first migration slice keeps serialized/API IDs as raw
`number | string` while local UI/store IDs use the branded string type.
## Caveat
`SUBGRAPH_INPUT_ID` and `SUBGRAPH_OUTPUT_ID` are now branded local
`NodeId` string values internally instead of numeric sentinels.
Reviewers should double-check extension compatibility for callers that
import `Constants` and compare those values numerically.

## Summary
Realign the ECS architecture docs and ADR 0008 with the shipped
direction (PR #12617): entity data lives in dedicated Pinia stores keyed
by string IDs, rather than one unified \"World\" registry addressed by
branded entity IDs.
## Changes
- **What**: Docs-only. Retarget the `docs/architecture/` set + ADR 0008
+ agent guidance from the single-World/branded-`*EntityId` model to the
dedicated-store model that PR #12617 actually shipped
(`widgetValueStore` keyed by `WidgetId`, `layoutStore`,
`nodeOutputStore`, `domWidgetStore`, `subgraphNavigationStore`,
`previewExposureStore`).
- `AGENTS.md` + `.agents/checks/adr-compliance.md`: point entity-data
guidance at dedicated stores; fix the inverted `world.getComponent`
compliance check (it flagged correct store-based code).
- `ADR 0008`: dated amendment note (stays Proposed); rewrite the World
section → dedicated stores, Branded ID design (`WidgetId` composite
string), migration strategy, render-loop, consequences, notes.
- `proto-ecs-stores.md`: flip the \"Unified World / branded IDs\"
framing from gap-to-close → target; replace the deleted
`PromotedWidgetViewManager` with the `input.widgetId` store-backed
model; fix key formats and store count.
- `ecs-target-architecture.md` / `ecs-lifecycle-scenarios.md` /
`ecs-migration-plan.md`: reframe all `world.*` APIs and `*EntityId`
brands to per-store APIs + string keys; mark already-shipped migration
phases done.
- `subgraph-boundaries-and-promotion.md` / `entity-interactions.md` /
`entity-problems.md`: scope-tagged store entries; swap removed
`PromotionStore` for `previewExposureStore`.
- `appendix-critical-analysis.md`: post-pivot status banner + resolution
notes on the critiques the pivot vindicated; still-open gaps (extension
callbacks, atomicity, Y.js↔ECS) left live.
- `appendix-ecs-pattern-survey.md`: supersede banner; keep the external
library survey (§1).
- Delete obsolete `ecs-world-command-api.md` (its command-pattern
argument folded into ADR 0008).
- **Breaking**: None (documentation only).
## Review Focus
- ADR 0008 stays **Proposed** with an amendment note rather than a new
superseding ADR — confirm that's the preferred mechanism vs. a fresh
ADR.
- Numeric per-kind brands (`NodeEntityId`, `LinkEntityId`, …) are
retained in ADR 0008 but explicitly marked aspirational/unshipped; only
`WidgetId` (composite string) reflects shipped code.
- `appendix-ecs-pattern-survey.md` §2–§4 are kept under a supersede
banner as historical record (they describe the deleted `src/world/`
substrate) rather than rewritten — confirm that's preferred over
deletion.
- Net −384 lines; no code or test changes.

## Summary
Removes the deprecated Group Nodes feature and replaces it with a
load-time migration that auto-converts any group nodes in a loaded
workflow into Subgraphs (with accepted lossiness).
## Changes
- **What**:
- `groupNode.ts` is now a migration-only extension.
`beforeConfigureGraph` registers temporary node types from
`extra.groupNodes` so instances are created during `configure`; a new
`afterConfigureGraph` hook converts every group node in the root graph
to a subgraph (via `LGraph.convertToSubgraph`), re-scanning until none
remain, then deletes `extra.groupNodes`. A failed conversion removes the
offending node so loading never hangs or breaks.
- Kept the minimum needed: `GroupNodeConfig` (builds the
input/output/widget maps), a slimmed `GroupNodeHandler` exposing a
rewritten `convertToNodes()` that no longer depends on the execution
DTOs, the `globalDefs`/`addCustomNodeDefs` path, and the `nodeDefStore`
`Object.assign` shim the migration relies on to detect group nodes.
- Deleted: the Manage Group Nodes dialog (`groupNodeManage.ts`/`.css`),
execution DTOs (`executableGroupNodeDto.ts`,
`executableGroupNodeChildDTO.ts`), the create/builder flow, recreate,
commands, keybindings, menus, the `isGroupNode` branches in the
right-side panel / error grouping / focus composable, the group-node
branches in node templates, dead i18n keys, and the now-unused
`serialise` clipboard helper.
- Rewrote `browser_tests/tests/groupNode.spec.ts` to assert
auto-conversion; deleted the `ManageGroupNode` page object and
`manageGroupNode()` helper.
- Net: ~2,700 lines removed across 23 files (7 files deleted).
- **Breaking**: Group nodes can no longer be created, managed, or
executed. Existing workflows still load — their group nodes are
converted to subgraphs on open.
## Review Focus
- The load-time migration in `afterConfigureGraph` and the rewritten
`GroupNodeHandler.convertToNodes()` (no longer uses the execution
`getInnerNodes()` / DTOs; derives inner node type/index from
`groupData.nodeData.nodes` and relies on `deserialiseAndCreate` +
selection ordering).
- Kept `nodeDefStore`'s `Object.assign(this, obj)` shim: the migration
depends on it to propagate the group-node marker symbol onto the
registered node definition.
### Accepted lossiness
- Group nodes nested inside subgraphs (or inside other group nodes)
convert into the root graph rather than their original container —
essentially nonexistent in real legacy workflows since group nodes
predate subgraphs.
- Temporary `workflow>name` node types stay registered for the session;
instantiating one auto-converts it to a subgraph.
## Verification
`pnpm typecheck`, `typecheck:browser`, `knip`, `oxlint`, `eslint`, and
`oxfmt` are green (also enforced by pre-commit hooks). Unit tests for
the touched files could not be run locally due to a pre-existing
environment error (`file:///assets/images/*.svg` passed to a Node
filename API at import time, which also fails on unmodified test files);
the browser spec requires a live server.

## Summary
Add the ECS pattern survey appendix to ADR 0008's companion-documents
table, and drop stale `PromotionStore` references across architecture
docs to reflect the ADR 0009 removal.
## Changes
- **What**:
- New `docs/architecture/appendix-ecs-pattern-survey.md` — surveys
bitECS, miniplex, koota, ECSY, Bevy, and Thyseus: patterns adopted,
departed from, and when to revisit.
- ADR 0008 companion table gains a row pointing at the new appendix.
- `docs/adr/0009-…/before-after-flows.md`,
`docs/architecture/ecs-target-architecture.md`,
`docs/architecture/entity-problems.md` — drop references to
`PromotionStore` / `usePromotionStore` (the legacy three-layer mechanism
is gone; promoted value widgets are now linked `SubgraphInput`s).
- `docs/architecture/subgraph-boundaries-and-promotion.md` — reframes
its "current mechanism" section as historical context with an explicit
"removed by ADR 0009" callout.
- **Breaking**: None — docs-only.
## Review Focus
Wording in the historical-context callout on
`subgraph-boundaries-and-promotion.md`. Everything else is a small
cleanup or a new standalone document.

## Summary
Introduces **Subgraph Link Only Promotion** (ADR 0009) — a new model for
surfacing inner subgraph widgets on the parent SubgraphNode by
*promoting through links* rather than by duplicating widget state on the
host. Ships with the hygiene/refactor pass on the migration, store, and
event layers that the new model depends on.
## What changes
### Subgraph Link Only Promotion (ADR 0009)
Promoted widgets are defined by the link from a SubgraphNode input to
the interior node, not by a duplicated widget instance on the host.
Consequences:
- A SubgraphNode renders inner widgets purely as a **projection** of the
interior widgets and links — no host-side state to drift.
- **Per-host independence**: multiple instances of the same SubgraphNode
render and edit their own values without cross-talk.
- **Reversible promote/demote**: structural link operation, so demote
preserves host slots and external connections (#12278).
### Supporting refactors
- **Migration** — Planner/classifier/repair/quarantine helpers collapsed
into a single `proxyWidgetMigration` entry point with black-box
round-trip coverage. Honors the source-node-id disambiguator on
`proxyWidgets`, so deduplicated names (e.g. `text`, `text_1`) resolve to
the right interior widget.
- **Widget identity** — `appMode` unified on `WidgetEntityId`; promoted
widget state is keyed by entityId across the store, DOM, and migration
paths.
- **SubgraphNode** — 3-key promoted-view cache replaced with a single
version counter + explicit `invalidatePromotedViews()` at mutation
sites; `id === -1` sentinel removed.
- **Events** — `LGraph.trigger()` now dispatches node trigger payloads
through `this.events`, replacing a leaky `onTrigger` monkey-patch.
`SubgraphEditor` reactivity is driven from subgraph events instead of
imperative refresh.
- **Stores** — `appModeStore` migration helpers collapsed into
`upgradeAndValidateInput`; `nodeOutputStore.*ByExecutionId` derived from
the locator index; `previewExposureStore` cleanup and cycle-detection
double-warn fix.
- **Misc** — `Outcome` types consolidated; mutable accumulators replaced
with `flatMap`; new ESLint rule forbids litegraph imports under
`src/world/`.
### Tests
- Browser tests for promoted widgets retagged `@vue-nodes` and rewritten
to assert against the rendered Vue node DOM (via `getNodeLocator` /
`getByRole('textbox')` / `enterSubgraph`) instead of `page.evaluate`
graph introspection.
- Per-host widget independence asserted via DOM.
- Migration coverage moved to black-box round-trip tests.
- Added coverage for duplicate-named promoted widget identity (ADR 0009)
and the per-parent demote branch in `WidgetActions`.
## Review focus
- ADR 0009 conformance of the link-only promotion model.
- Disambiguator resolution path in `proxyWidgetMigration`.
- Single-version-counter promoted-view cache and its
`invalidatePromotedViews()` call sites.
- `LGraph.trigger()` event dispatch and the `AppModeWidgetList.vue`
migration off `onTrigger` (FE-667 tracks the remaining
`useGraphNodeManager` conversion).
## Breaking changes
None for users. Internal subgraph promotion APIs changed — see ADR 0009.

## Summary
- Drop the `--` separator from all in-repo `pnpm test:unit -- <args>`
examples. The separator is unnecessary (pnpm forwards extra args
automatically) and on Windows PowerShell it mangles quoted args like `-t
"restores host values by input name"`, splitting them into multiple
tokens.
- Add a short note in `docs/guidance/vitest.md` explaining the
substring-match semantics of the positional filter and that `-t` matches
`it()`/`test()` names only (not `describe()` blocks).
- Fix `pnpm test:unit -- run <files>` in the backport-management skill:
because `test:unit` is already `vitest run`, the literal `run` token was
a positional path filter that silently narrowed the suite to files whose
paths contain "run".
## Test plan
- [ ] `pnpm test:unit useConflictAcknowledgment` matches
`useConflictAcknowledgment.test.ts`
- [ ] `pnpm test:unit SubgraphWidgetPromotion.test.ts -t "restores host
values"` filters to a single test
- [ ] `git grep "pnpm test:unit -- "` returns no in-repo matches
## Summary
Fixed two minor documentation inaccuracies found during comprehensive
documentation audit:
- Corrected outdated "Lodash" reference to "Utility Functions" in unit
testing guide
- Updated package manager command from `npx` to `pnpm dlx` in Playwright
skill documentation
## Changes Made
### Documentation Fixes
#### docs/testing/unit-testing.md:150
- **Before**: `## Mocking Lodash Functions`
- **After**: `## Mocking Utility Functions`
- **Reason**: The section describes mocking `es-toolkit/compat`
functions, not Lodash. The project uses es-toolkit as stated in
AGENTS.md line 158 and docs/guidance/typescript.md line 60.
#### .claude/skills/writing-playwright-tests/SKILL.md:117
- **Before**: `npx playwright show-trace trace.zip`
- **After**: `pnpm dlx playwright show-trace trace.zip`
- **Reason**: Project standardizes on pnpm, explicitly avoiding npx per
AGENTS.md line 42: "use `pnpx` or `pnpm dlx` — never `npx`"
## Audit Summary
Comprehensive audit verified accuracy of:
- ✅ Core documentation (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, README.md)

architecture docs)
- ✅ All README files throughout repository (21 files)
- ✅ All .claude/commands/*.md files (8 files)
- ✅ Code examples and API references
- ✅ File structure references (verified src/router.ts, src/i18n.ts,
src/main.ts, config files exist)
- ✅ Package dependencies (es-toolkit ^1.39.9 confirmed)
- ✅ Script commands (pnpm test:unit, pnpm test:browser:local, etc.)
- ✅ External resource links
- ✅ ADR index and dates
All other documentation remains accurate and up-to-date as of

## Summary
Document that `vue-i18n` should not be mocked in tests — mount with a
real `createI18n` plugin instance instead.
## Changes
- **What**: Expanded `docs/testing/vitest-patterns.md` "Don't Mock
`vue-i18n`" section with a concrete code example (covering both
component and composable tests), guidance for asserting on translation
keys with empty messages, and a real-example link to
`src/components/searchbox/v2/__test__/testUtils.ts`. Added a callout at
the top of `docs/testing/unit-testing.md` "Mocking Composables with
Reactive State" cross-linking the new section, since that section
applies to *owned* composables.
## Review Focus
- The previous `vitest-patterns.md` paragraph pointed at a non-existent
`SearchBox.test.ts`; the new link points to the actual shared `testI18n`
helper.
- The "Mocking Composables with Reactive State" pattern should not be
applied to third-party composables like `useI18n` — the callout makes
that explicit.
Surfaced during review of #11737, where the test file mocked `vue-i18n`
and then accumulated structural workarounds (hoisted aliases, helper
functions, type casts) to interact with the mocked `t`. A real
`createI18n` instance avoids the entire ceremony.

## Summary
Harden the `ChangeTracker` lifecycle to eliminate the class of bugs
where an inactive workflow's tracker silently captures the wrong graph
state. Renames `checkState()` to `captureCanvasState()` with a
self-defending assertion, introduces `deactivate()` and
`prepareForSave()` lifecycle methods, and closes a latent undo-history
corruption bug discovered during code review.
## Background
ComfyUI supports multiple workflows open as tabs, but only one canvas
(`app.rootGraph`) exists at a time. When the user switches tabs, the old
workflow's graph is unloaded and the new one is loaded into this shared
canvas.
The old `checkState()` method serialized `app.rootGraph` into
`activeState` to track changes for undo/redo. It had no awareness of
*which* workflow it belonged to -- if called on an inactive tab's
tracker, it would capture the active tab's graph data and silently
overwrite the inactive workflow's state. This caused permanent data loss
(fixed in PR #10745 with caller-side `isActive` guards).
The caller-side guards were fragile: every new call site had to remember
to add the guard, and forgetting would reintroduce the same silent data
corruption. Additionally, `beforeLoadNewGraph` only called `store()`
(viewport/outputs) without `checkState()`, meaning canvas state could be
stale if a tab switch happened without a preceding mouseup event.
### Before (fragile)
```
saveWorkflow(workflow):
if (isActive(workflow)) <-- caller must remember this guard
workflow.changeTracker.checkState() <-- name implies "read", actually writes
...
beforeLoadNewGraph():
activeWorkflow.changeTracker.store() <-- only saves viewport, NOT graph state
```
### After (self-defending)
```
saveWorkflow(workflow):
workflow.changeTracker.prepareForSave() <-- handles active/inactive internally
...
beforeLoadNewGraph():
activeWorkflow.changeTracker.deactivate() <-- captures graph + viewport together
```
## Changes
- Rename `checkState` to `captureCanvasState` with active-tracker
assertion
- Add `deactivate()` and `prepareForSave()` lifecycle methods
- Fix undo-history corruption: `captureCanvasState()` guarded by
`_restoringState`
- Fix viewport regression during undo: `deactivate()` skips
`captureCanvasState()` during undo/redo but always calls `store()` to
preserve viewport (regression from PR #10247)
- Log inactive tracker warnings unconditionally at warn level (not
DEV-only)
- Deprecated `checkState()` wrapper for extension compatibility
- Rename `checkState` to `captureCanvasState` in
`useWidgetSelectActions` composable
- Add `appModeStore.ts` to manual call sites documentation
- Add `checkState()` deprecation note to architecture docs
- Add 16 unit tests covering all guard conditions, lifecycle methods,
and undo behavior
- Add E2E test: "Undo preserves viewport offset"
## New ChangeTracker Public API
| Method | Caller | Purpose |
|--------|--------|---------|
| `captureCanvasState()` | Event handlers, UI interactions | Snapshots
canvas into activeState, pushes undo. Asserts active tracker. |
| `deactivate()` | `beforeLoadNewGraph` only | `captureCanvasState()`
(skipped during undo/redo) + `store()`. Freezes state for tab switch. |
| `prepareForSave()` | Save paths only | Active: `captureCanvasState()`.
Inactive: no-op. |
| `checkState()` | **Deprecated** -- extensions only | Wrapper that
delegates to `captureCanvasState()` with deprecation warning. |
| `store()` | Internal to `deactivate()` | Saves viewport, outputs,
subgraph navigation. |
| `restore()` | `afterLoadNewGraph` | Restores viewport, outputs,
subgraph navigation. |
| `reset()` | `afterLoadNewGraph`, save | Resets initial state (marks as
"clean"). |
## Test plan
- [x] Unit tests: 16 tests covering all guard conditions, state capture,
undo queue behavior
- [x] E2E test: "Undo preserves viewport offset" verifies no viewport
drift on undo
- [x] E2E test: "Prevents captureCanvasState from corrupting workflow
state during tab switch"
- [x] Existing E2E: "Closing an inactive tab with save preserves its own
content"
- [ ] Manual: rapidly switch tabs during undo/redo, verify no viewport
drift
- [ ] Manual: verify extensions calling `checkState()` see deprecation
warning in console
## Summary
Extract internal logic from the 2 remaining VTU holdout components into
composables, enabling full VTL migration.
## Changes
- **What**: Extract `useProcessedWidgets` from `NodeWidgets.vue`
(486→135 LOC) and `useWidgetSelectItems`/`useWidgetSelectActions` from
`WidgetSelectDropdown.vue` (563→170 LOC). Rewrite both component test
files as composable unit tests + slim behavioral VTL tests. Remove
`@vue/test-utils` devDependency.
- **Dependencies**: Removes `@vue/test-utils`
## Review Focus
- Composable extraction is mechanical — no logic changes, just moving
code into testable units
- `useProcessedWidgets` handles widget deduplication, promotion border
styling, error detection, and identity resolution (~290 LOC)
- `useWidgetSelectItems` handles the full computed chain from widget
values → dropdown items including cloud asset mode and multi-output job
resolution (~350 LOC)
- `useWidgetSelectActions` handles selection resolution and file upload
(~120 LOC)
- 40 new composable-level unit tests replace 13 `wrapper.vm.*` accesses
across the 2 holdout files

## Summary
Add design standards instructions so agents consult the canonical [Comfy
Design
Standards](https://www.figma.com/design/QreIv5htUaSICNuO2VBHw0/Comfy-Design-Standards)
Figma file before implementing user-facing features.
### Changes
- **`docs/guidance/design-standards.md`** — Auto-loaded guidance for
`src/components/**/*.vue` and `src/views/**/*.vue` with Figma MCP fetch
instructions, section node IDs, and component set references
- **`AGENTS.md`** — Added Design Standards section and Figma link in
External Resources
### Design
All content is fetched **live from Figma** via the Figma MCP tool —
designers can update the file and agents will always see the latest
version. No hardcoded design rules that can go stale.

## Summary
Document acceptable vs avoidable `page.evaluate` patterns in Playwright
E2E tests, with migration candidates for existing offenders.
## Changes
- **What**: Add "When to Use `page.evaluate`" section to
`docs/guidance/playwright.md` with acceptable/avoid/preferred guidance
and 8 migration candidates identified from audit
## Review Focus
Whether the migration candidate list covers the right tests and whether
the acceptable/avoid boundary is drawn correctly.

## What changed
Removed stale `tests-ui` configuration and documentation references from
the repo.
## Why
`tests-ui/` no longer exists, but the repo still carried:
- a dead `@tests-ui/*` tsconfig path
- stale `tests-ui/**/*` include
- a Vite watch ignore for a missing directory
- documentation examples that still referenced the old path
## Validation
- `pnpm format:check`
- `pnpm typecheck`

## Summary
Add guidance to `docs/guidance/playwright.md` that new node-specific
assertions should be methods on page objects/helpers rather than new
`comfyExpect` custom matchers.
## Changes
- **What**: New "Custom Assertions" section in Playwright guidance
documenting that existing `comfyExpect` matchers are fine to use, but
new assertions should go on the page object for IntelliSense
discoverability.
## Review Focus
Documentation-only change. No code refactoring — this is a convention
for new code only.

## Motivation
Browser tests mock API responses with `route.fulfill()` using untyped
inline JSON. When the OpenAPI spec changes, these mocks silently drift —
mismatches aren't caught at compile time and only surface as test
failures at runtime.
We already have auto-generated types from OpenAPI and manual Zod
schemas. This PR makes those types the source of truth for test mock
data.
From Mar 27 PR review session action item: "instruct agents to use
schemas and types when writing browser tests."
## Type packages and their API coverage
The frontend has two OpenAPI-generated type packages, each targeting a
different backend API with a different code generation tool:
| Package | Target API | Generator | TS types | Zod schemas |
|---------|-----------|-----------|----------|-------------|
| `@comfyorg/registry-types` | Registry API (node packages, releases,
subscriptions, customers) | `openapi-typescript` | Yes | **No** |
| `@comfyorg/ingest-types` | Ingest API (hub workflows, asset uploads,
workspaces) | `@hey-api/openapi-ts` | Yes | Yes |
Additionally, Python backend endpoints (`/api/queue`, `/api/features`,
`/api/settings`, etc.) are typed via manual Zod schemas in
`src/schemas/apiSchema.ts`.
This PR applies **compile-time type checking** using these existing
types. Runtime validation via Zod `.parse()` is not yet possible for all
endpoints because `registry-types` does not generate Zod schemas — this
requires a separate migration of `registry-types` to
`@hey-api/openapi-ts` (#10674).
## Summary
- Add "Typed API Mocks" guideline to `docs/guidance/playwright.md` with
a sources-of-truth table mapping endpoint categories to their type
packages
- Add rule to `AGENTS.md` Playwright section requiring typed mock data
- Refactor `releaseNotifications.spec.ts` to use `ReleaseNote` type
(from `registry-types`) via `createMockRelease()` factory
- Annotate template mock in `templates.spec.ts` with
`WorkflowTemplates[]` type
Refs #10656
## Example workflow: writing a new typed E2E test mock
When adding a new `route.fulfill()` mock, follow these steps:
### 1. Identify the type source
Check which API the endpoint belongs to:
| Endpoint category | Type source | Zod available |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest API (hub, billing, workflows) | `@comfyorg/ingest-types` | Yes
— use `.parse()` |
| Registry API (releases, nodes, publishers) |
`@comfyorg/registry-types` | Not yet (#10674) — TS type only |
| Python backend (queue, history, settings) | `src/schemas/apiSchema.ts`
| Yes — use `z.infer` |
| Templates | `src/platform/workflow/templates/types/template.ts` | No —
TS type only |
### 2. Create a typed factory (with Zod when available)
**Ingest API endpoints** — Zod schemas exist, use `.parse()` for runtime
validation:
```typescript
import { zBillingStatusResponse } from '@comfyorg/ingest-types/zod'
import type { BillingStatusResponse } from '@comfyorg/ingest-types'
function createMockBillingStatus(
overrides?: Partial<BillingStatusResponse>
): BillingStatusResponse {
return zBillingStatusResponse.parse({
plan: 'free',
credits_remaining: 100,
renewal_date: '2026-04-28T00:00:00Z',
...overrides
})
}
```
**Registry API endpoints** — TS type only (Zod not yet generated):
```typescript
import type { ReleaseNote } from '../../src/platform/updates/common/releaseService'
function createMockRelease(
overrides?: Partial<ReleaseNote>
): ReleaseNote {
return {
id: 1,
project: 'comfyui',
version: 'v0.3.44',
attention: 'medium',
content: '## New Features',
published_at: new Date().toISOString(),
...overrides
}
}
```
### 3. Use in test
```typescript
test('should show upgrade banner for free plan', async ({ comfyPage }) => {
await comfyPage.page.route('**/billing/status', async (route) => {
await route.fulfill({
status: 200,
contentType: 'application/json',
body: JSON.stringify(createMockBillingStatus({ plan: 'free' }))
})
})
await comfyPage.setup()
await expect(comfyPage.page.getByText('Upgrade')).toBeVisible()
})
```
The factory pattern keeps test bodies focused on **what varies** (the
override) rather than the full response shape.
## Scope decisions
| File | Decision | Reason |
|------|----------|--------|
| `releaseNotifications.spec.ts` | Typed | `ReleaseNote` type available
from `registry-types` |
| `templates.spec.ts` | Typed | `WorkflowTemplates` type available in
`src/platform/workflow/templates/types/` |
| `QueueHelper.ts` | Skipped | Dead code — instantiated but never called
in any test |
| `FeatureFlagHelper.ts` | Skipped | Response type is inherently
`Record<string, unknown>`, no stronger type exists |
| Fixture factories | Deferred | Coordinate with Ben's fixture
restructuring work to avoid duplication |
## Follow-up work
Sub-issues of #10656:
- #10670 — Clean up dead `QueueHelper` or rewrite against `/api/jobs`
endpoint
- #10671 — Expand typed factory pattern to more endpoints
- #10672 — Evaluate OpenAPI generation for excluded Python backend
endpoints
- #10674 — Migrate `registry-types` from `openapi-typescript` to
`@hey-api/openapi-ts` to enable Zod schema generation
## Test plan
- [x] `pnpm typecheck:browser` passes
- [x] `pnpm lint` passes
- [ ] Existing `releaseNotifications` and `templates` tests pass in CI
## Summary
Document the recommended pattern for adding new domain-specific test
helpers as Playwright fixtures via `base.extend()` instead of attaching
them to `ComfyPage`.
## Changes
- **What**: Added "Creating New Test Helpers" section to

## Review Focus
Documentation-only change. Verify the example code matches the existing
pattern in `browser_tests/fixtures/ComfyPage.ts`.

## Summary
Add helpers for safely interacting with nodes that share the same title
without hitting Playwright strict mode.
## Changes
- **What**: Added `getNodesByTitle(title)` and `getNodeByTitleNth(title,
index)` to `VueNodeHelpers`. Updated `docs/guidance/playwright.md` with
a gotcha note about duplicate node names.
## Review Focus
These are purely additive helpers — no existing behavior changes.
`getNodesByTitle` returns all matching nodes (callers use `.nth()` to
pick), and `getNodeByTitleNth` is a convenience wrapper. The existing
`selectNodes(nodeIds)` by-ID method is unchanged.

## Summary
Migrate 13 component test files from @vue/test-utils to
@testing-library/vue as Phase 1 of incremental VTL adoption.
## Changes
- **What**: Rewrite 13 test files (88 tests) to use `render`/`screen`
queries, `userEvent` interactions, and `jest-dom` assertions. Add
`data-testid` attributes to 6 components for lint-clean icon/element
queries. Delete unused `src/utils/test-utils.ts`.
- **Dependencies**: `@testing-library/vue`,
`@testing-library/user-event`, `@testing-library/jest-dom` (installed in
Phase 0)
## Review Focus
- `data-testid` additions to component templates are minimal and
non-behavioral
- PrimeVue passthrough (`pt`) usage in UserAvatar.vue for icon testid
- 2 targeted `eslint-disable` in FormRadioGroup.test.ts where PrimeVue
places `aria-describedby` on wrapper div, not input

## Summary
Fix 3D asset disappearing when switching between 3D and image outputs in
app mode — missing `onUnmounted` cleanup leaked WebGL contexts.
## Changes
- **What**: Add `onUnmounted` hook to `Preview3d.vue` that calls
`viewer.cleanup()`, releasing the WebGL context when Vue destroys the
component via its v-if chain. Add unit tests covering init, cleanup on
unmount, and remount behavior.
## Review Focus
When switching outputs in app mode, Vue's v-if chain destroys and
recreates `Preview3d`. Without `onUnmounted` cleanup, the old `Load3d`
instance (WebGL context, RAF loop, ResizeObserver) leaks. After ~8-16
toggles, the browser's WebGL context limit is exhausted and new 3D
viewers silently fail to render.

## Review Notes
This audit was triggered by a codebase restructuring where
settings-related files were moved from `src/constants/` and
`src/stores/` to a new platform-based organization under
`src/platform/settings/`. Additionally, some service files were renamed
to follow the `use*` composable naming convention.
All documentation now accurately reflects the current codebase
structure. No functionality changes were made - only documentation
updates to maintain accuracy.
### Files with Intentionally Deleted References (No Fix Needed)
- `build/plugins/generateImportMapPlugin.ts` - Documented as removed in
ADR-0005, reference is intentionally showing historical context
## Testing
- Verified all updated file paths exist in the codebase
- Confirmed all code examples still compile with updated import paths
- Validated no broken internal documentation links

## Summary
Adds `isGraphReady` getter to `ComfyApp` and uses it in
`executionErrorStore` guards to prevent false 'ComfyApp graph accessed
before initialization' error logs during early store evaluation.
## Changes
- **What**: Added `isGraphReady` boolean getter to `ComfyApp` that
safely checks graph initialization without triggering the `rootGraph`
getter's error log. Updated 5 guard sites in `executionErrorStore` to
use `app.isGraphReady` instead of `app.rootGraph`.
- **Why**: The `rootGraph` getter logs an error when accessed before
initialization. Computed properties and watch callbacks in
`executionErrorStore` are evaluated early (before graph init), causing
false error noise in the console.
## Review Focus
- `isGraphReady` is intentionally minimal — just
`!!this.rootGraphInternal` — to avoid duplicating the error-logging
behavior of `rootGraph`
- The `watch(lastNodeErrors, ...)` callback now checks `isGraphReady` at
the top and early-returns, consistent with the computed property pattern

## Summary
Remove Tailwind `@apply` from Vue styles across `src/` and
`apps/desktop-ui/src/` to align with Tailwind v4 guidance, replacing
usages with template utilities or native CSS while preserving behavior.
## Changes
- **What**:
- Batch 1: migrated low-risk template/style utility bundles out of
`@apply`.
- Batch 2: converted PrimeVue/`:deep()` override `@apply` blocks to
native CSS declarations.
- Batch 3: converted `src/components/node/NodeHelpContent.vue` markdown
styling from `@apply` to native CSS/token-based declarations.
- Batch 4: converted final desktop pseudo-element `@apply` styles and
removed stale `@reference` directives no longer required.
- Verified `rg -n "^\s*@apply\b" src apps -g "*.vue"` has no real CSS
`@apply` directives remaining (only known template false-positive event
binding in `NodeSearchContent.vue`).
## Review Focus
- Visual parity in components that previously depended on `@apply` in
`:deep()` selectors and markdown content:
- topbar tabs/popovers, dialogs, breadcrumb, terminal overrides
- desktop install/dialog/update/maintenance surfaces
- node help markdown rendering
- Confirm no regressions from removal of now-unneeded `@reference`
directives.

## Summary
Replace the Proxy-based proxy widget system with a store-driven
architecture where `promotionStore` and `widgetValueStore` are the
single sources of truth for subgraph widget promotion and widget values,
and `SubgraphNode.widgets` is a synthetic getter composing lightweight
`PromotedWidgetView` objects from store state.
## Motivation
The subgraph widget promotion system previously scattered state across
multiple unsynchronized layers:
- **Persistence**: `node.properties.proxyWidgets` (tuples on the
LiteGraph node)
- **Runtime**: Proxy-based `proxyWidget.ts` with `Overlay` objects,
`DisconnectedWidget` singleton, and `isProxyWidget` type guards
- **UI**: Each Vue component independently calling `parseProxyWidgets()`
via `customRef` hacks
- **Mutation flags**: Imperative `widget.promoted = true/false` set on
`subgraph-opened` events
This led to 4+ independent parsings of the same data, complex cache
invalidation, and no reactive contract between the promotion state and
the rendering layer. Widget values were similarly owned by LiteGraph
with no Vue-reactive backing.
The core principle driving these changes: **Vue owns truth**. Pinia
stores are the canonical source; LiteGraph objects delegate to stores
via getters/setters; Vue components react to store state directly.
## Changes
### New stores (single sources of truth)
- **`promotionStore`** — Reactive `Map<NodeId, PromotionEntry[]>`
tracking which interior widgets are promoted on which SubgraphNode
instances. Graph-scoped by root graph ID to prevent cross-workflow state
collision. Replaces `properties.proxyWidgets` parsing, `customRef`
hacks, `widget.promoted` mutation, and the `subgraph-opened` event
listener.
- **`widgetValueStore`** — Graph-scoped `Map<WidgetKey, WidgetState>`
that is the canonical owner of widget values. `BaseWidget.value`
delegates to this store via getter/setter when a node ID is assigned.
Eliminates the need for Proxy-based value forwarding.
### Synthetic widgets getter (SubgraphNode)
`SubgraphNode.widgets` is now a getter that reads
`promotionStore.getPromotions(rootGraphId, nodeId)` and returns cached
`PromotedWidgetView` objects. No stubs, no Proxies, no fake widgets
persisted in the array. The setter is a no-op — mutations go through
`promotionStore`.
### PromotedWidgetView
A class behind a `createPromotedWidgetView` factory, implementing the
`PromotedWidgetView` interface. Delegates value/type/options/drawing to
the resolved interior widget and stores. Owns positional state (`y`,
`computedHeight`) for canvas layout. Cached by
`PromotedWidgetViewManager` for object-identity stability across frames.
### DOM widget promotion
Promoted DOM widgets (textarea, image upload, etc.) render on the
SubgraphNode surface via `positionOverride` in `domWidgetStore`.
`DomWidgets.vue` checks for overrides and uses the SubgraphNode's
coordinates instead of the interior node's.
### Promoted previews
New `usePromotedPreviews` composable resolves image/audio/video preview
widgets from promoted entries, enabling SubgraphNodes to display
previews of interior preview nodes.
### Deleted
- `proxyWidget.ts` (257 lines) — Proxy handler, `Overlay`,
`newProxyWidget`, `isProxyWidget`
- `DisconnectedWidget.ts` (39 lines) — Singleton Proxy target
- `useValueTransform.ts` (32 lines) — Replaced by store delegation
### Key architectural changes
- `BaseWidget.value` getter/setter delegates to `widgetValueStore` when
node ID is set
- `LGraph.add()` reordered: `node.graph` assigned before widget
`setNodeId` (enables store registration)
- `LGraph.clear()` cleans up graph-scoped stores to prevent stale
entries across workflow switches
- `promotionStore` and `widgetValueStore` state nested under root graph
UUID for multi-workflow isolation
- `SubgraphNode.serialize()` writes promotions back to
`properties.proxyWidgets` for persistence compatibility
- Legacy `-1` promotion entries resolved and migrated on first load with
dev warning
## Test coverage
- **3,700+ lines of new/updated tests** across 36 test files
- **Unit**: `promotionStore.test.ts`, `widgetValueStore.test.ts`,
`promotedWidgetView.test.ts` (921 lines),
`subgraphNodePromotion.test.ts`, `proxyWidgetUtils.test.ts`,
`DomWidgets.test.ts`, `PromotedWidgetViewManager.test.ts`,
`usePromotedPreviews.test.ts`, `resolvePromotedWidget.test.ts`,
`subgraphPseudoWidgetCache.test.ts`
- **E2E**: `subgraphPromotion.spec.ts` (622 lines) — promote/demote,
manual/auto promotion, paste preservation, seed control augmentation,
image preview promotion; `imagePreview.spec.ts` extended with
multi-promoted-preview coverage
- **Fixtures**: 2 new subgraph workflow fixtures for preview promotion
scenarios
## Review focus
- Graph-scoped store keying (`rootGraphId`) — verify isolation across
workflows/tabs and cleanup on `LGraph.clear()`
- `PromotedWidgetView` positional stability — `_arrangeWidgets` writes
to `y`/`computedHeight` on cached objects; getter returns fresh array
but stable object references
- DOM widget position override lifecycle — overrides set on promote,
cleared on demote/removal/subgraph navigation
- Legacy `-1` entry migration — resolved and written back on first load;
unresolvable entries dropped with dev warning

## Summary
Documents the PrimitiveNode copy/paste bug mechanism and connection
lifecycle semantics in `WIDGET_SERIALIZATION.md`. This is tribal
knowledge from debugging
[#1757](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend/issues/1757) and
the related [Slack
discussion](https://comfy-organization.slack.com/archives/C09AQRB49QX/p1771806268469089).
## What's documented
- **The clone→serialize gap**: `_serializeItems()` calls
`item.clone()?.serialize()`. The clone has no `this.widgets`
(PrimitiveNode creates them on connection), so `serialize()` silently
drops `widgets_values`.
- **Why seed survives but control_after_generate doesn't**: Primary
widget value is copied from the target on reconnect; secondary widgets
read from `this.widgets_values` which was lost.
- **Current vs. proposed lifecycle**: Empty-on-copy → morph-on-connect
(current) vs. clone-configured-instance → empty-on-disconnect
(proposed).
- **Design considerations**: `input.widget` override flexibility,
deserialization ordering, and the minimal `serialize()` override fix.
