Is there an existing issue for this?

What would your feature do ?My pc has a large screen, so having workflow tabs makes a lot of sense. My mobile device has a lot smaller screen, so the tabs don't work at all. The problem is that this setting is synced between all devices, so I cannot choose a fitting setting for each device.

I can think of a couple of solutions.

  1. The setting is saved in local storage - per device - and is not synced. This option makes sense since it is a set and forget kind of setting, and it only impacts the UI directly, which is different across devices.
  2. The tab setting is automatically disabled when the screen is detected to be too small. This option also makes sense, since it's unusable for small screens. However, the size that people consider 'too small' is subjective.
  3. The list of tabs should be scrollable if the tabs do not fit, instead of overflowing to the next row. This solution is nice since it doesn't necessarily need to consider different devices as closely, and can get away with a single implementation. It is the easiest option. The downside is that it wastes space that could otherwise be used for different useful buttons in the topbar.

The optimal solution is probably a combination of 2 and 3, where the tabs are disabled if the available space can't even fit a single tab correctly.
