How to manually update to the latest core, as the current version of the core cannot use certain nodes of the flux API.

Hi @RichardMadden! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the desktop team.
To manually update to the latest ComfyUI core, you can use the update scripts in the
updatefolder—specifically,update_comfyui.bat(for the latest commit) orupdate_comfyui_stable.bat(for the latest stable version) if you're using the portable version. These scripts will pull the newest core files for you. For a fully manual update, you can clone the latest ComfyUI repo and set up the environment as described in the manual install guide: clone the repo, set up a Python environment, install dependencies, and run the app.If you're using the desktop app, it bundles a specific core version set at build time, and there’s no built-in way to update just the core without a new desktop release. In that case, you’d need to wait for an updated desktop app that includes the newer core version you need.
I couldn't find any references to the "flux API" or related compatibility issues in the codebase or docs, so if you have more details about that, let me know!

@dosu When is the latest desktop version usually updated? My workflow requires using the latest Flux API nodes, and I am on a Mac.
@dosubot[bot] commented on GitHub (Jun 9, 2025):
The ComfyUI desktop app (including on Mac) updates automatically when a new stable version is released, as long as auto-update is enabled in your settings. There’s no set schedule—updates are published when a new stable core is bundled and released by the team, not on a fixed timeline. Manual updates or updating just the core aren’t supported in the desktop app, and there’s no way to pull the latest commit or nightly build directly—only the next official desktop release will include newer core features or node support source.
Currently, there’s no reference to Flux API nodes in the desktop codebase or docs, so support for those nodes depends on when the desktop app is updated to a core version that includes them source. If your workflow requires the very latest nodes or features, the standalone (manual) install is the only way to guarantee immediate access.
