App Version
ComfyUI Desktop v0.5.1 (Oct. 08 2025 update)
Expected Behavior
I should be able to queue up image generation without all my computer's resources being used up. This did not happen before the update.
Actual Behavior
I can see that my HDD is being written to up to a 100% usage as well as a spike in RAM usage.
Steps to Reproduce
Using the flux-krea template available in the Templates section:
I click on the Run button and expect it to produce an image in ~3 minutes, but ever since the update it has been making my PC setup straight up unusable. I have no way to download older versions of ComfyUI desktop to revert back to. The issue did not happen in previous versions.

Hi @lamricky98! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the desktop team.
There isn't a known issue in the desktop app code itself that would cause the freeze or high resource usage after the v0.5.1 update—the desktop app just launches and manages the backend, and doesn't control RAM or disk usage during image generation. This kind of regression is most likely due to a change in the backend Python ComfyUI or in the comfyui-workflow-templates package (which was updated to 0.1.94 in your logs), or possibly in the flux-krea template logic.
General troubleshooting steps for this kind of problem include: lowering image resolution or batch size, using memory optimization flags (like
--lowvram,--cache-none, or--disable-smart-memory), and closing other applications to free up resources. You can also try disabling all custom nodes to see if one is causing the issue, then re-enable them one by one to isolate the culprit if the problem goes away with them disabled. These steps are outlined in the official documentation and can help manage memory and resource usage while you wait for a fix in the backend or template logic. More details and flag options are available in the ComfyUI troubleshooting guide and custom node troubleshooting. If the issue only happens with the flux-krea template, it may be worth testing with a different template or a minimal workflow to see if the problem persists. If it does, it's likely a backend or template regression introduced in the recent update.
