I am a ComfyUI desktop user in China, accessing the international internet using a VPN. For the past two weeks, I've been experiencing update issues (updates were working fine before). As shown in the image, there's an update notification in the lower right corner, but no update window pops up. Manually clicking "Check for updates" also shows no updates found. This problem has been bothering me for a long time. Is this a network issue or a client-side issue? How can I resolve this?

This is a good point, this should probably be changed for better UX.
I think the core issue is that the updates for core ComfyUI are displayed in the circled region, whereas the desktop version might not receive updates at the same time core does.
Usually, desktop has the the latest stable version of core ComfyUI, which might not be the latest released version. That's why despite the help center showing a newer version of ComfyUI, the desktop version itself does not have an update.
About the China concern, the command used to check for updates does indeed show an error toast message if the check did not properly return a normal response, so it should be going through normally.
github.com/Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend@73692464ef/src/extensions/core/electronAdapter.ts (L211-L219)I forwarded this to the team and will update if there's a proposed solution.
On a side note, desktop should be receiving a version bump very soon.

As of now, I have three versions that have not been updated, namely 0.3.68, 0.3.69, and 0.3.70. As shown in the picture, I am still using version 0.3.67 because ComfyUI cannot be manually updated, which is very frustrating for me.

Same issue for the past two weeks.

When I was browsing the Reddit community, the desktop version of Comfyui couldn't be updated, and it wasn't just my fault. It turns out that many people have encountered similar problems.

@Clouded-Sabre commented on GitHub (Nov 20, 2025):
Same issue here. No way to update Comfy version.
@changpd25-cell commented on GitHub (Nov 22, 2025):
This problem does exist. Mine is also stuck at version 0.3.67 and I am unable to install the update according to the update prompt.
@quentar82 commented on GitHub (Nov 22, 2025):
its 0.3.71 out meanwhile and desktop version is still on 0.3.67 without any possibility to update
@benceruleanlu commented on GitHub (Nov 22, 2025):
Sorry about the update delays, having technical issues on our end and with our build tool, currently working around the clock to get this fixed.
The good news is that, right now, I do have Windows working. MacOS will probably need just one more fix with node-pty and both will be released with ComfyUI 0.3.71 after a few quick minutes of QA.
I'll update this thread when that happens.

New version is out now!
