Custom Node Testing
Expected Behavior
My current desktop version is 0.3.67. When launching the client, a pop-up window will appear to prompt for an update, indicating that the latest version is 0.3.71. However, after clicking on the update, it only redirects to the webpage https://docs.comfy.org/installation/update_comfyui, without any installation options available for operation. Later, I completely uninstalled the client, cleaned up all related folders, and downloaded the latest installation package ComfyUI Setup 0.5.5 - x64 for a fresh installation. After installation, I directly started it, without installing any third-party custom nodes, but the update issue still persists. When I clicked on the help section for checking for updates, it again indicated that no updates were found. I would like to ask, as of November 22, 2025, what is the updateable version for the desktop version? And why is my version stuck at 0.3.67 and unable to install the update?
Actual Behavior
Steps to Reproduce
The client cannot be updated. Clicking the update button will only redirect to https://docs.comfy.org/installation/update_comfyui

As of November 22, 2025, the latest stable desktop version of ComfyUI is 0.3.71 (docs). However, the desktop app bundles a fixed core version at build time and does not support updating the core ComfyUI version independently—updates only happen when a new desktop release is published (issue).
The update prompts and buttons you see in the UI are a known bug; they do not actually trigger an update for the desktop app (issue). This is why clicking "update" only opens the documentation and why reinstalling or using "Check for updates" does not change your version. Multiple users have reported being stuck on 0.3.67 and unable to update to 0.3.71, even after reinstalling (issue).
If you need immediate access to the latest features, use the portable or manual installation versions, which can be updated independently (docs). Otherwise, you will need to wait for the next desktop release to get core updates.

To help reduce the volume of bug reports regarding this, here is a suggestion:
Add [Desktop] and [Portable] badges next to each version. Only display the badge if the version supports that platform (hide it otherwise).
This would immediately clarify compatibility and stop users from trying to update unsupported versions.
