Prerequisites

  • I have searched the existing issues and checked the recent builds/commits
  • I have read the documentation and this feature is not already available
  • This is a single feature request (not multiple features combined)

Problem Statement

1- Window's top dragging area is inconsistent: green area is draggable and red isn't; these areas size seem to be different every time. This is more observable when window is maximized.

2- The dragging area is at a higher layer of the buttons, making the buttons inaccessible:

3- Window control are overlapping with queue control:

Proposed Solution

1- Make the draggable area across the window, suggested area height is 40px

2- Move all buttons and controls to a higher layer

3- Suggest to remove the window control (minimize, maximize, close) since the draggable area already able to minimize and maximize with double clicks, Then add "exit app" to the logo drop down menu, and assign a shortcut like cmd+q or ctrl+q

Hi, @ironcloudy. I’m Dosu, and I’m helping the desktop team manage their backlog and am marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • You requested several UI/UX improvements for the Windows custom window style to enhance usability.
  • Suggestions include expanding the draggable area, adjusting button layering, and replacing window controls with double-click actions and a logo menu exit option.
  • You prefer the cleaner desktop custom style and consider the impact of these changes medium.
  • You followed up asking the maintainer about any upcoming updates related to these suggestions.
  • The issue remains unresolved with no recent updates.

Next Steps:

  • Please let us know if this issue is still relevant with the latest version of the desktop app by commenting here.
  • If we don’t hear back within 7 days, this issue will be automatically closed.

Thanks for your understanding and contribution!
