Original GitHub issue: https://github.com/Comfy-Org/desktop/issues/1563
App Version
desktop [v0.7.5]
Expected Behavior
I installed the custom node because I want to use AILab_QwenVL, but the AILab_QwenVL node doesn’t appear—only Qwen VL (GGUF) is available.

So I tried using Qwen VL (GGUF) instead, but when I do, this warning pops up and it won’t run.
Actual Behavior
It doesn’t run, and warning message pops up.

Hi @yomkii! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the desktop team.
Your issue is caused by missing or failed installation of the
llama_cpp(llama-cpp-python) dependency, which is required for Qwen VL (GGUF) and related nodes to work. The logs show repeated failures to install this package, and import errors for bothllama_cppand parts oftransformersneeded by AILab_QwenVL. This prevents the node from loading and appearing in the UI.Here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve this:
Use the built-in terminal in ComfyUI Desktop to ensure you are installing dependencies in the app’s
.venv(not your system Python). Open the terminal from the ComfyUI Desktop menu.Manually install the required dependencies for the QwenVL node. In the terminal, run:
If there is no requirements.txt, try:
Watch for any error output and save it for diagnosis if the install fails.
If installation fails with a build error, make sure you have the required build tools:
Check for version conflicts: The default
transformersversion in ComfyUI Desktop is pinned to 4.57.3, but AILab_QwenVL may require a newer version forAutoModelForVision2Seq. If you see import errors, try installing a compatible version:(Check the QwenVL node’s documentation for the exact required version.)
If the virtual environment seems broken or corrupted (e.g., persistent import errors, missing modules), close ComfyUI Desktop, delete the
.venvfolder in your install directory, and restart the app. This will force a clean environment rebuild and reinstall dependencies. After each step, restart ComfyUI Desktop and check if the AILab_QwenVL node appears and loads without errors.
If you continue to see errors, collect the full error output from the terminal and logs. This will help diagnose if the issue is a missing dependency, a build tool problem, or a version conflict.
For more details on installing custom nodes and dependencies in ComfyUI Desktop, see the official guide and custom node dependency docs.
If you’re still stuck after these steps, let me know the exact error output from the failed pip install and I can help further.
