Describe the bug
AmneziaVPN 4.8.14.5 does't allow to set a custom netmask for VPN subnet.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to 'Server settings-->AmneziaWG-->AmneziaWG server settings'
  2. Click on 'VPN address subnet'
  3. Set custom subnet e.g. "10.188.199.0/24"
  4. Save settings
  5. Create user account and import it to the AmneziaWG client (App version: 2.0.0)
  6. Open tunnel properties in AmneziaWG, see "Addresses: 0.0.0.5/32".
  7. Try "Activate" and see the error.

Expected behavior
Possible options:

  1. Allow setting custom network subnet.
  2. Validate the "VPN address subnet" value before applying and show the hint of the proper value format.

Desktop

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Version 10.0.19045 (amd64)

Smartphone

  • Device: Honor 10i
  • OS: Android 12
  • Version 12.0.0.221

I found a similar issue on a device running the Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS x64 operating system.

In Amnezia VPN version 4.8.14.5, when applying the client configuration in the application under “Server1” → Protocols → AmneziaWG → Show connection options, it shows that the field Address = 10.8.0.3/24 is being applied.

However, the output of ip addr show amn0 shows: “inet 10.8.0.0/32 scope global amn0”.
