App starts and working fine with "Connect"/"Disconnect" commands from app icon in Control Centre. "Show AmneziaVPN" command does nothing if "Start minimized" is set.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Check "Start app minimized".
  2. Restart AmneziaVPN.
  3. Go to AmneziaVPN in right top corner.
  4. Click on "Show AmneziaVPN".
  5. Nothing happens.

Expected behavior
AmneziaVPN window shows up.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: MacOS 14.1 Sonoma
  • Version 4.0.8.6

Server (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Ubuntu 22.04

Hi there!

I had the same problem on Ubuntu 24. I have tried random actions such as middle-clicking on the Amnezia icon in the tray, or selecting 'New Window' from the Amnezia context menu accessed from the tray icon, but nothing happens. Finally, I right-clicked on the tray icon, clicked on the 'All windows' menu item, and then clicked on the 'Close' icon in the Amnezia window preview that appeared from this menu (see the first screenshot). The application then closed. I then searched for the Amnezia application in the search box (accessed by pressing the Win key), right-clicked on the application icon in the search results and selected the 'New Window' menu item (the second screen). Amnezia then opened, not minimised, and I saw the application window.

The key is to try to start a new Amnezia window. You can try similar ways depending on your OS.

P.s.: Sorry for my English, it is not my native language.

After I checked "Start app minimized" setting in the app on MacOS I was not able to open the app window at all, even after re-installation. The instruction above didn't help. So this bug is a very frustrating one.

The only thing that helped is reverting this setting back via cli:

killall AmneziaVPN
defaults write ~/Library/Preferences/org.amneziavpn.AmneziaVPN.plist Conf.startMinimized -bool false
