When running AmneziaVPN_Linux_Installer.bin on Steam Deck (Arch Linux derivative), the installer crashes immediately with a JavaScript error from the Qt Installer Framework component script.

Screenshot (text from console):

text
(deck@TBFDeck Downloads)$ ./AmneziaVPN_Linux_Installer.bin
Exception while loading the component script ": /metadata/installer-config/controlsript_js.js": TypeError: Property 'setCancelled' of object QInstaller::PackageManagerCore(0x2b6dc900) is not a function on line number: 279
Steps to reproduce:

Download the latest AmneziaVPN_Linux_Installer.bin from official source.

On Steam Deck (game mode or desktop mode), open a terminal in the download folder.

Make the binary executable: chmod +x AmneziaVPN_Linux_Installer.bin

Run it: ./AmneziaVPN_Linux_Installer.bin

The error appears immediately – installer GUI never shows up.

Expected behavior:
Installer should start normally and show the setup wizard.

Actual behavior:
Installer crashes with the above JavaScript exception. The same happens when double-clicking the file in Dolphin file manager.

Environment:

Device: Steam Deck (LCD / OLED)

OS: SteamOS Holo (based on Arch Linux), fully updated as of today (2026-05-25)

Kernel: latest stable from SteamOS update channel

Desktop: KDE Plasma (Wayland/X11)

Architecture: x86_64

Installer file: AmneziaVPN_Linux_Installer.bin (no version shown, likely latest from website)

Additional context:

The error points to a line setCancelled() being called on QInstaller::PackageManagerCore object. According to Qt Installer Framework documentation, setCancelled() may not exist in the API for that component – perhaps a typo or outdated script.

The script name controlsript_js.js looks like a misspelling of controlscript_js.js, which might hint at a packaging issue.

Possible workaround for users:
Install AmneziaVPN via other methods (if available), e.g., Flatpak, AppImage, or from AUR (on Steam Deck you would need to disable readonly first). But the main installer should be fixed.

Suggested fix:
Review the control script (controlsript_js.js or actually controlscript_js.js) line 279. Replace setCancelled() with the proper method to cancel installation, likely setCancelEnabled() or cancel(), or remove the call if unnecessary. Also check for API compatibility with the Qt Installer Framework version used to build the installer.
