Describe the bug
When connecting to AmneziaVPN (version 4.8.12.9 and newer) on my Arch Linux system (Omarchy 3.8.2), internet connectivity is completely lost after a successful VPN connection. DNS resolution to the configured DNS server still works, but general internet access is broken.
The issue does not occur in version 4.8.11.4, which works correctly. If I’m not mistaken, some versions newer than 4.8.11.4 used to work fine previously, so it seems like something may have broken either on the client side or due to some recent system update on my side.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install AmneziaVPN 4.8.12.9 or newer from AUR
  2. Launch the AmneziaVPN client
  3. Connect to VPN configuration (vless in my case)
  4. Internet connectivity is lost immediately after connection

Expected behavior

Internet access should continue working normally through the VPN connection, as it does in version 4.8.11.4.

Log files
Logs collected immediately after reproducing the issue. I connected to the VPN, then attempted to access the internet via both a web browser and terminal (ping to google.com), but both failed due to complete loss of connectivity. After that, I disconnected from the VPN.

Desktop:

  • OS: Arch Linux (Omarchy 3.8.2, rolling release)
  • Kernel: 7.0.11-arch1-1
  • Version: AmneziaVPN 4.8.12.9+ (affected), 4.8.11.4 (working)

Additional context

  • Rolling back to AmneziaVPN 4.8.11.4 restores full functionality.
  • DNS server configured via VPN remains reachable in affected versions.
  • Issue occurs consistently across all tested VPN configurations.
  • Root cause is unknown; initial troubleshooting did not identify the issue.

This problem happened also for me, but, as stated here, it can be fixed after starting and enabling systemd-resolved. If this doesn't help, also configure it in stub mode.

Just wanted to add an update to this issue.

The suggested solution didn’t work for me, but the problem disappeared
after upgrading to Omarchy 4.0.0.1. I’m not sure what exactly changed in
that update that fixed it, but after upgrading, Amnezia VPN started working
normally and my internet connection was restored.

Leaving this here in case it helps anyone else experiencing the same issue.
