Hi, tried the app and cant even connect to the server. Keep getting Error 101. Does it relate to the fact app does not support apple silicon natively?

Hi!

No, error 101 is not related to the Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) processor architecture. The Amnezia VPN client is fully compatible with Apple chips and runs natively or seamlessly on ARM-based macOS systems.

Error 101 (which typically stands for Network is unreachable or Connection timed out at the socket level) indicates a network transport issue. It means the client application cannot establish a connection or reach your VPS/server at all.

The most likely reasons for this right now:

DPI / ISP Blocking: If you are trying to use a standard protocol like vanilla WireGuard or OpenVPN, your internet service provider (or mobile carrier) might be actively dropping packets destined for your server.
Closed Ports on the VPS: Double-check your hosting provider's firewall/security groups settings. Ensure that the specific incoming ports needed for your chosen protocol are completely open.
Incorrect IP or Config: Make sure there are no typos in the server's IP address or the configuration keys.

How to troubleshoot this:

Try setting up a censorship-resistant protocol instead, such as AmneziaWG or VLESS + Reality / Shadowsocks, which are designed to bypass deep packet inspection (DPI).
Test the connection to the exact same server from another device (e.g., your smartphone using cellular data) to isolate whether the issue is specific to your home internet provider.
