Describe the bug
On Windows, connecting to a self-hosted server with the AmneziaWG 2.0 container (amnezia-awg2, protocol_version: 2, H1–H4 defined as ranges, I1 signature packet set) never completes. The UI shows no error — the connect button just spins forever.
The tunnel ring log (C:\Program Files\AmneziaWG\Data\log.bin) shows that when the interface configuration is applied via UAPI, only private key, junk count/min/max and s1–s4 are set. The AWG 2.0 parameters (h1–h4, i1) are never passed to the tunnel, and no peer is created at all. Immediately after startup the tunnel logs twice:
IPC error -22: failed to get peer by public key: hex string does not fit the slice
After that the daemon polls Checking for handshake... indefinitely (thousands of entries); no handshake initiation is ever sent, so the server never sees any packets from this client.
The same server and same container work fine from the Android client on the same Wi-Fi network, so the server, network and DPI are not the cause.

Server: Ubuntu 24.04, container amnezia-awg2, UDP, protocol_version: 2, H1–H4 as ranges, I1 = DNS-mimicking signature packet
Client config imported via admin (vpn://) file; the app successfully registers a new peer on the server over SSH (visible in client log: awg syncconf etc.), then fails to configure the local tunnel
Steps to reproduce
Self-hosted server with the AmneziaWG 2.0 container (H1–H4 ranges + I1 set).
Windows client 4.8.19–4.8.21, import full-access config, let the app register the client.
Press Connect.
Expected behavior
Tunnel receives the peer and AWG 2.0 parameters, handshake completes (as it does on Android).
Actual behavior
Peer is never configured, h1–h4/i1 never applied, endless "connecting" with no UI error.
On 4.8.19.0 the service log additionally showed the peer key arriving empty:

Workaround
Installing a plain WireGuard container on the same server and connecting through it works immediately, which further isolates the issue to the AWG 2.0 config handoff on Windows.

I noticed similar spam in the debug logs after installing the client.
After installation, every time you connect - in the background, this message appears in the log endlessly.
An easy way to stop spam (the method I use):
This fixes the problem, and the next time you click "Connect," the spam messages will disappear.
Now when I connect everything is fine.
