I reset macOS and reinstalled the program (version 4.8.2.3). It seems that the connection is now working, although I haven't changed any settings yet (in particular, I haven't enabled the firewall). I was planning on testing the pre-release 4.8.3.1, but the OS is preventing its installation for security reasons.
