I did some investigation and found that for some reason, the process stuck at the moment of downloading of this file:
https://dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org/alpine/v3.15/main/x86_64/APKINDEX.tar.gz

Is this VPS provider's issue?

Issue is gone by itself, and file successfully fetched during docker image build

Looks like VPS provider had some issues

@PavelRusetsky please, reopen this bug.

This is well known issue in old Apline . So we need update Alpine image from 3.15 ( 4 years old) https://www.theregister.com/2023/05/16/alpine_linux_318/

How in the world is this completed if the bug is there until today?

@oktonion It used to be uncommon to use TCP for DNS.
And even now, it seems, many people don't encounter this problem.

There may be other reasons preventing you from working with the Alpine CDN, but updating the Alpine image is not a bad idea anyway.

Any workaround exists?

Still experiencing that issue

/ # apk add
fetch https://dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org/alpine/v3.19/main/x86_64/APKINDEX.tar.gz
^C/ # wget https://dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org/alpine/v3.19/main/x86_64/APKINDEX.tar.gz
Connecting to dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org (199.232.174.132:443)

outside of the docker container i can download APKINDEX.tar.gz without any troubles

@yank0vy3rdna the image can still be built using the host network :
docker build --network=host --no-cache --pull -t amnezia-awg /opt/amnezia/amnezia-awg

To pass this command to the installer, I created my own file /usr/local/bin/docker that replaces some commands:

#!/bin/bash
if [[ "$*" == "build --no-cache --pull -t amnezia-awg /opt/amnezia/amnezia-awg" ]]; then
    exec /usr/bin/docker build --network=host --pull -t amnezia-awg /opt/amnezia/amnezia-awg
fi
exec /usr/bin/docker "$@"

The installer will run this command instead of the real one.

@yank0vy3rdna
If the alpine version is now 3.19, then this should not be a problem with DNS TCP. Maybe you should research it further?
