Description:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 25.04, access to internal corporate resources via Pritunl VPN or OpenVPN stops working when Amnezia VPN is enabled.

Background:

  • I use a corporate VPN (Pritunl or standard OpenVPN) to access internal resources such as workdomain.com.
  • I also use Amnezia VPN to access geo-restricted content.
  • On Ubuntu 24.04, everything worked as expected: internal resources remained accessible via the corporate VPN even when Amnezia VPN was active.

Current behavior:

  • Enabling Amnezia VPN breaks access to workdomain.com, even if Pritunl or OpenVPN is connected.
  • Disabling Amnezia VPN restores access to internal resources.

Expected behavior:

  • I should be able to:
    • Use Pritunl/OpenVPN to access internal resources (workdomain.com)
    • Simultaneously use Amnezia VPN to route public internet traffic

Additional information:

  • Issue is reproducible with both Pritunl and standard OpenVPN configurations.
  • Likely related to changes in routing behavior or DNS handling in Ubuntu 25.04 (e.g. NetworkManager or systemd-resolved).
  • Multiple .ovpn profiles tested — same result.

Request:

  • Investigate potential routing/DNS regressions in Ubuntu 25.04.
  • Any workaround (e.g., advanced routing table settings or ip rules) would be appreciated
  • Goal: simultaneous VPN access — internal via Pritunl/OpenVPN, external via Amnezia VPN.
