When I connect to AmneziaVPN on Arch Linux (with NetworkManager), my internet stops working. The issue is resolved only after manually running these commands:
sudo ip route flush dev amn0
sudo ip route add default dev amn0
echo "nameserver 1.1.1.1" | sudo tee /etc/resolv.conf
sudo systemctl restart systemd-resolved

Expected behavior:
Internet should work normally after connecting to VPN, without manual route/DNS fixes.

Steps to reproduce:
1.Install AmneziaVPN on Arch Linux (with NetworkManager).
2.Connect to any VPN server.
3.Observe loss of internet connectivity.

Possible causes:
AmneziaVPN does not properly update routes for amn0.
Conflict with NetworkManager (tries to manage routes/DNS, but AmneziaVPN overrides them).
DNS leak or incorrect /etc/resolv.conf handling with systemd-resolved.

Temporary workaround:
Manually setting default route and DNS (as shown above).

System info:
OS: Arch Linux
NetworkManager: Installed and enabled
AmneziaVPN

Hi. What helped me was deleting the old wired internet connection and creating a new one. After that I was able to access the internet through amnezia. (I also have the arch)

Try turning off "KillSwitch" and "Use AmnesiaDNS"
Also try using xray.

Well, I think it is a bug. I faced this problem on Manjaro. I installed AmneziaVPN via AUR (and didn't do anything else), when connected VPN my internet connection had went down. I turned off KillSwitch, but AmneziaDNS was on, and the net had appeared.

Checked working protocols are WG, XRay, OpenVPN. Also, I checked IPsec, but it is not supported on my platform (ErrorCode: 104).

Platform

  • Manufacturer: Acer
  • Product Name: Aspire A315-44P
  • Version: V1.02
  • CPU AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics

System

  • Linux manjaro 6.15.7-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu, 17 Jul 2025 20:47:04 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I have the same trouble on Manjaro

Linux elitehost 6.12.62-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri, 12 Dec 2025 19:42:13 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Also, if I export ovpn config form Amnezia and import it to Network Manager then the same happens.

I can't reproduce the problem. Make sure you have systemd-resolved enabled/active and configured in stub mode.

Have same problem. Connect and work after I started and enabled systemd-resolved
