hello !

the latest version of the app (4.8.12.9) doesn't start on Ubuntu 22

the error:

$ AmneziaVPN
/opt/AmneziaVPN/client/bin/AmneziaVPN: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.36' not found (required by /opt/AmneziaVPN/client/bin/AmneziaVPN)
/opt/AmneziaVPN/client/bin/AmneziaVPN: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.38' not found (required by /opt/AmneziaVPN/client/bin/AmneziaVPN)

it looks like the app is compiled against a newer version of GLIBC that is not available in Ubuntu 22 (only in 24)

however in docs you mention that Ubuntu 22 is fully supported (and it was in previous releases)

Same here.

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) uses GLIBC 2.35 and does not officially support GLIBC 2.36 or 2.38 in its default repositories. The safest and most recommended way to get a newer glibc version is to upgrade your entire operating system to Ubuntu 23.10 or 24.04 LTS, which have GLIBC 2.38 and 2.39 respectively

Ubuntu 22 is still widely used, it's supported until 2027, and, for example, I can't simply upgrade my OS. That means, that right now I can't use Amnezia client, that's sad. It would be good to make a working build for ubuntu 22.

I'm using version 4.8.1.0, which runs on 22.04.
First, I create and download the .conf file from my phone (for Premium). Then I add the server in the app via a file.
It can't connect directly to premium (it's an old version), but it works with a file.

4.8.11 does not work with awg2, so it's not a workaround.

Unfortunately, The only way of fixing it is to build your local version, for which you'll have to download and install newest qt libraries. If you are not familiar with building C projects and/or Qt it would be quite difficult, so you upgrading distro is probably easier.

It's a pity that this app is so demanding to the new versions of libraries, but it is what it is

That's not true.
Using musl or building Linux version on 22 platform would be enough to make app compatible both with 22 and 24.

you upgrading distro is probably easier.

That's also not true. If someone still uses 22 and creates issues - it means that we have to. So it's easier not to use amnesia, unfortunately.

Perhaps a solution that would work for everyone is to provide an AppImage build, allowing us to run the latest updates on "older" distributions.
