Original GitHub issue: https://github.com/amnezia-vpn/amneziawg-android/issues/39
Given an Android smartphone is connected to home WiFi and Amnezia is connected, when WiFi connectivity is lost and Android falls back to cellular connectivity, then the device loses internet access. Manually reconnecting Amnezia resolves the issue.
Detailed description
When internet connectivity is lost Amnezia UI still shows "connected". 8.8.8.8 cannot be pinged. The issue can be resolved by disconnecting and reconnecting Amnezia in the UI.
It seems that this also occasionally happens when moving from cell to cell.

Do you have Persistent keep-alive enabled?
@yuriykulikov commented on GitHub (Aug 11, 2025):
I do not think it is, as I was using a key to connect.
I have tried with configuration file which has keep alive set to 25, but it did not make any difference.
@orange11orange commented on GitHub (Aug 12, 2025):
And if you set 5 seconds in the client itself, will the problem go away? And make sure that this is the number that will remain in the application window in Android. I saw something similar on the official WireGuard client and the problem, as I noticed, was solved with 5 seconds. It should be the same here, but maybe your situation is different.
@yuriykulikov commented on GitHub (Aug 12, 2025):
Is there a way to check this in the app or better yet set it in the app? I do not see the option on Android.
@orange11orange commented on GitHub (Aug 12, 2025):
In AmneziaWG app click on your configuration that you want to change, after which all the data will appear, with keys, IP addresses, etc. and scroll all this to the very bottom and there it will be indicated (from bottom to top) - Last handshake, Statistics with received and sent data and above it will be written the time in seconds.
To set the Keep-alive time directly in the AmneziaWG app, you need to, while on the connection configuration page, tap on the pencil symbol in the upper right corner and then scroll to the very bottom of the list, where the desired field will be the third from the bottom.

I am using 4.8.9.2 and I do not have a pencil on the connection page. See attached screenshot.

Looks like we are talking about different apps. I was talking about AmneziaWG (1.1.2) by AmneziaVPN. I didn't notice "Amnezia 4.8.8.1" from your first post. But isn't there something similar in this app?
@yuriykulikov commented on GitHub (Aug 13, 2025):
My apologies for the confusion. I was assuming that the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.amnezia.vpn is built from this source.
Android app installed from Play store does not have these settings.
@orange11orange commented on GitHub (Aug 13, 2025):
If you still can't solve the problem, then depending on protocol and server you are using, you could try the AmneziaWG client, but I don't know if it will work with the servers you are using now (the config files are incompatible and only WireGuard and AmneziaWG protocols are supported) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.amnezia.awg
@yuriykulikov commented on GitHub (Aug 14, 2025):
Thank you, I will give it a try. Closed the issue.
