It would be nice to have the ability to receive notifications from web apps in the same way as on the desktop. It could come handy for replacing apps like Facebook or Twitter.

Seems like this should be possible, as long as the site handles WebPush correctly - AFAICT this would largely just ("just") require changing the web push server to something that pushes to this app (e.g. there's an "official" instance of autopush-rs for this app), or UnifiedPush (e.g. fennec and ironfox support this - this wouldn't need cylonid to run a dedicated server).

Personally I'd love to use this to replace Zulip's mobile apps - the web UI is feature-complete and quite good for a mobile site, while the native app is still missing major features. But push notifications are a semi-hard requirement for a chat app.
