Hi 3FS Team and Community,
I'm currently reviewing the 3FS distributed filesystem and am very interested in its capabilities.
I have a couple of questions:
Minimum Viable Setup for Testing:
What would be considered the absolute minimum hardware/VM configuration (nodes, OS, memory, SSDs, networking) just to test the basic functionality and features of 3FS? The provided hardware specifications (meta node + 5 storage nodes) are quite substantial for an initial test.
For instance, could one test core features with a smaller number of nodes (e.g., 1 meta + 1 or 2 storage nodes) and more modest resources for a proof-of-concept?
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Configuration:
Has anyone in the community successfully deployed 3FS on Google Cloud Platform?
Are there any known best practices, potential challenges, or specific configuration steps to be aware of when setting up 3FS in a GCP environment?
Thank you for developing 3FS and for any insights the community can provide!
Best regards,
Kumar Nachiketa

I found this blog post - DeepSeek 3FS: non-RDMA install, faster ecosystem app dev/testing. I'll try this and see how it goes.

I was able to successfully deploy on GCP, sharing steps here. https://github.com/knachiketa04/3fs-gcp.git. I still need to test functionality and performance though.
