self.lib = ctypes.CDLL(os.path.join(self.path, 'kernel.so')) loads the executable kernel.
Then calling self.lib.launch(*cargs, ctypes.byref(return_code)) runs this kernel with input parameters cargs and stores the return value in return_code.
