On Linux/Windows/MacOS, you can install by

pip install torch==2.0.1 torchvision==0.15.2 torchaudio==2.0.2

Please check the official doc of PyTorch: https://pytorch.org/get-started/previous-versions/

I had the same issue when I ran pip install -e . in an environment with python 3.12 (I thought it should be fine since they say python >= 3.8). But then I created a new environment with python 3.8 and it worked just fine.

Here is what worked for me. I went to the pyproject.toml file in the repository and then removed the required Pytorch version under dependencies to look like something as follows:

dependencies = [ "torch", "transformers==4.38.2", "timm>=0.9.16", "xformers>=0.0.21", "accelerate", "sentencepiece", "attrdict", "einops", ]
once I removed the required pytorch version, i ran pip install -e . This solved the issue for me
