Proposed tool

AI Novel Writer is an open-source Windows/macOS desktop workspace for writing fiction. Authors keep characters, worldbuilding, chapter plans, drafts and revisions in one project, and review the generated text themselves.

I maintain the project and would like to propose a DeepSeek integration guide for this author-facing workflow, alongside the general desktop clients already listed here.

Current integration evidence

The published v1.2.3-Preview provider presets include the official https://api.deepseek.com endpoint, deepseek-v4-pro and deepseek-v4-flash, 1,000,000-token context metadata and a max reasoning mapping. This is source evidence, not a new end-to-end test or a promise that every generation fits that context.

The proposed bilingual guide would cover installing the desktop preview, configuring the user's own DeepSeek API key, selecting the model and reasoning level, and generating a first chapter for human review. Provider charges are separate. Installers are currently unsigned.

I have read CONTRIBUTING.md. Any formal guide PR must include both languages and alphabetized entries in both README tables, and verify the actual configuration and first run before claiming they work. No completed guide or fresh runtime verification is claimed in this proposal.
