[Idea] DeepSekk IDE – Fork IntelliJ with a built-in Agent that can actually modify your project
The Vision
JetBrains recently made IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition more open and buildable via GitHub Actions. The platform API is incredibly powerful – it supports refactoring, file manipulation, and even virtual terminal execution.
But the built-in AI Assistant is limited. It suggests code but can't apply changes across the whole project without clicking "Accept" 100 times.
Let's fix that.
The Idea
Create a fork of IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition called DeepSekk IDE.
The core feature: an Agent Mode AI assistant that doesn't just chat – it acts.
The user types something like:
"Rename all UserService to AccountService across the entire project"
"Extract all database logic into a separate module"
"Find and fix the race condition in the payment handler"
And the agent:
Technical Stack
Base IDE: IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition (open source)
AI Backend: Local LLM via Ollama / LM Studio (optional cloud fallback)
Project manipulation: IntelliJ Platform API – RefactoringSupport, WriteCommandAction, ChangeManager
Terminal execution: Built-in terminal + programmatic command execution
Killer Features
Example Workflow
User: "Add createdAt / updatedAt to all JPA entities with auto-fill"
DeepSekk:
"Found 12 entities. Creating abstract BaseEntity. Applying changes... Done. Generating Liquibase migration... Done. Running tests... All green."
Why now?
JetBrains is moving toward more open infrastructure. The Community Edition is fully buildable. A smart agent + IDE platform = the next generation of development tools.
This is exactly the kind of thing that could become a real alternative to Cursor or Windsurf – but built on top of the most mature IDE platform in existence.
The Ask
Let's build this. The sources are out there. The APIs are ready. The only missing piece is the agent that dares to actually touch the files.

Would you be open to a prototype in the next 2 weeks? 🚀
