FateStar is a Chinese metaphysics AI platform that combines Zi Wei Dou Shu (San He school), BaZi (Four Pillars), and Western astrology. Inference runs on DeepSeek-V4.

DeepSeek integration

  • API endpoint: api.deepseek.com/v1/chat/completions
  • Primary model: deepseek-v4-pro (Thinking mode) — chain-of-thought inference for luck-cycle analysis
  • Secondary model: deepseek-v4-flash (Non-Thinking) — fast chart generation and lightweight conversation
  • Context: 1M tokens, holds the full Chinese metaphysics canon (Zi Wei ~60K + BaZi ~120K + Western astrology ~200K) in a single prompt
  • Calling convention: function calling for structured chart JSON, chain-of-thought for inference
  • Cost share: DeepSeek accounts for ~90% of FateStar's inference cost

Verification

The model selector at the bottom-right of fatestar.top exposes both endpoints to end users:

  • Fast Mode — DeepSeek-V4-Flash Thinking Max
  • Thinking Mode — DeepSeek-V4-Pro Thinking Max

User-facing names map to DeepSeek's official deepseek-v4-pro and deepseek-v4-flash.

The footer carries a content disclosure: "FateStar performs analysis based on Chinese traditional culture, Zi Wei Dou Shu. Content is for reference only."

Why DeepSeek (technical summary)

  1. Classical Chinese coverage — terms like 「Hua Ji」, 「Lai Yin Gong」, 「self-transformation Lu」 work out of the box; canonical text citations come back accurate.
  2. 1M context — the full canon fits in a single prompt, removing the need for chunking or RAG over reference texts.
  3. Thinking / Non-Thinking dual mode — V4-Pro's reasoning chain is streamed and rendered as a step-by-step explanation for the user.
