you can use ctrl comands on the desktop, type with shift but games don´t register it
tested on minecraft and half-life, same symptoms as https://github.com/games-on-whales/wolf/issues/217
wolf was created using the nvidia manual method

Found a way to fix this
Just launch xfce in sway as i did in my image
@nhths commented on GitHub (Feb 25, 2026):
Same ptoblem now
@Gailoks Can you paste solution here?
@casmin7 commented on GitHub (Feb 25, 2026):
I also have this issue
@Gailoks commented on GitHub (Feb 26, 2026):
Alright I am alive I have just not seen notifications.
So here is my solution to this problem:
By default, gow-images with DE are launched like this:
File launch-comp.sh in XFCE image
My approach is different in my images I ran sway in the middle so it handles keys better than XWayland and then send it to controlled Xorg session so total pipeline looks like this:
GST_WAYALAND → sway → sway:XWayland layer → XFCE/gnome (like in my Zorin image), there are some issues with that, but mostly it is fine.
So I launch the session like this:
file session-init.sh
Sway configuration is built on every launch, in the same file
Hope someone will find this helpful!
@nhths commented on GitHub (Feb 26, 2026):
@Gailoks Thank you!
What you mean?
@Gailoks commented on GitHub (Feb 26, 2026):
Some keybinds of sway still work even if none of them are specified in the config. That is all I found.
@ABeltramo commented on GitHub (Sep 7, 2026):
Might be fixed by https://github.com/games-on-whales/wolf/pull/459 can anyone test this again?
@nhths commented on GitHub (Sep 8, 2026):
All works on MacOS and Linux clients.
Thanks!
@ABeltramo commented on GitHub (Sep 8, 2026):
Nice, thanks for testing!!
@ShadyHippo commented on GitHub (Sep 9, 2026):
Updating fixed the issue I was seeing as well. Left shift wasn't working and now it is. I thought my steam container was using the tiling window manager option (Sway?) though. Not sure why it wasn't, but a docker compose pull on the main wolf container fixed my left shift not working issues.
Adding so much keywords so any other poor souls no it's fixed and to update.
Thank you for all the work you guys do! It's appreciated!!
