Hi hope everyone's good. Thanks again for creating Wolf, it just keeps getting better and better.
Problem:
Laggy UI in Heroic and Lutris (but not in Steam UI or in games)
Details:
When using Steam, the UI works as expected. However, the UI for both Heroic and Lutris are hugely laggy - clicks and button presses take about 5s to respond. Once I'm in a game everything is fine.
I'm using the standard config sections for both applications.
Attempted solutions:
This was happening on Nvidia driver 550.163.01 (most recent available from Debian repo).
I tried updating my Nvidia driver to 595.71.05 (most recent available from Nvidia repo), which lead to another problem (will link the issue for that here once created). Once I resolved that, the problem was still there.
Diagnostics:
Check if the GPU is being used. nvidia-smi with Heroic running gives this - it looks like it's using the GPU (see last process):

Wolf container logs:
Is there anything else I can check here?
Cheers
@JBailes commented on GitHub (May 8, 2026):
This is a known issue with the gamepad-UI on Ubuntu. Have you tried a fedora-43 image?
@sikkgit commented on GitHub (May 9, 2026):
From what I found, you need to set
RUN_SWAY=0in order to use gamepad-UI because it forces gamescope. Which is a bummer because I like gamepad-UI but I can't play fps games in gamescope with the mouse hijacking and all.@soxhi8 commented on GitHub (May 9, 2026):
Worked for me, thank you! For anyone else reading along:
Edit config.toml and change the image for Lutris from
ghcr.io/games-on-whales/lutris:edgetoghcr.io/games-on-whales/lutris:edge-fedora. Restored my Lutris to working condition, after being completely unusable by just updating.@TransparentDuck commented on GitHub (May 11, 2026):
Thanks @JBailes for the pointer, and @soxhi8 for the exact instructions. This fixed the lag in Lutris. Appreciate the help!
It didn't change anything in Heroic, but I found a fix that worked here:
https://github.com/games-on-whales/gow/issues/291#issuecomment-4147535020
Basically, set your env section in the Heroic config.toml section to this:
[ 'RUN_SWAY=true', 'GOW_REQUIRED_DEVICES=/dev/input/* /dev/dri/* /dev/nvidia*', 'HEROIC_STARTUP_FLAGS=--ozone-platform=x11 --enable-features=UseOzonePlatform,WaylandWindowDecorations GenericName=gs_hgl' ]
