Hey everyone, love this project! I'm trying to migrate from my Steam headless install and am running into an architecture confusion question.
Is it possible to set this up for a single user and bypass the wolf UI? I love the wolf runner, I love the way it goes into moonlight, but I don't really want wolf UI at all. I can launch steam directly from Moonlight, I don't need the wolf UI to open steam which I'm getting into from Moonlight.
If this is already easily supported I'm having trouble understanding the docs to do this.
If this is not supported is it easy to add?
Example:
I have 3 moonlight clients, my laptop, my phone, and my tablet. I want each one to get the same options and directories and instances of everything. I want to be able to disconnect from my laptop and connect from my phone seamlessly - like it's just a single desktop computer running steam.
Is this a supported use case?
@ShadyHippo commented on GitHub (Sep 2, 2026):
Looking more, if this is out of scope, maybe it'd be good to add something to the readme making it clear that won't be happening.
I'd love this architecture to give me granular control over different remote game libraries for myself but setting up the user stuff is kind of a bit much for just me. If I should look elsewhere let me know.
Thanks!

You can easily move apps from the default profile to the hardcoded moonlight one see profiles.
This way you'll be skipping Wolf UI but be aware that each Moonlight client will be picked up as a separate user with a different home folder attached.
@ShadyHippo commented on GitHub (Sep 2, 2026):
Thank you for the reply!
Yeah that separate user thing is what I'm running into as an "issue". I assume it's by design. I'd be very interested in a "single user" mode that let's me have every client open the same home folder. I noticed if I copy the id from one moonlight account into the other it does kind of work as a workaround. It feels very hacky and brittle though.
A bool toggle in the setup for "single user" would simplify my use case a lot but it may be entirely out of scope of your project (which is fine) Maybe I'd be better served by a generic steam/sunshine container.
I found Wolf's implementation of the sunshine / moonlight protocol to be the best performing one I've tried though so I would love to stay on wolf if I can. I like the idea of having the wolf container "infrastructure" to open different game libraries in separate containers instead of trying to jam everything into 1 monster "gaming" container. I don't really want steam running in the background if I am just trying to run heroic or lutris for example. (Which your solution solves perfectly)
@ABeltramo commented on GitHub (Sep 2, 2026):
Wolf UI does exactly that though, do you have an issue with using that the intended way or is it just to save a couple extra clicks? 😅
@ShadyHippo commented on GitHub (Sep 2, 2026):
It’s the extra clicks and waiting for the UI container to recreate mostly.
I generally leave the Steam container running ant the desktop most of the time (always on server anyway) so it’s nice to be able to instantly reconnect where I was from moonlight.
My personal use case makes the “launcher launcher launcher” step feel like a bit much (moonlight -> wolf -> steam) - especially when wolf recreates the UI every time.
When I’m starting up the wolf UI it has a black screen for like 5 seconds which makes me impatient to wait. So nothing crazy, it’s just be nice to be able to skip it altogether with a “single user” mode where I don’t need the UI or user overhead and everything is just selectable (and resume-able) in Moonlight
