Problem

Running npx rea-agents setup is an explicit statement that the user wants to set REA up. The current interactive wizard, however, starts every choice from a "do nothing" state and the final confirmation defaults to "No, cancel", which contradicts the intent of running the command.

Observed behavior

  1. The "What should REA set up?" capability picker starts with nothing selected (src/cliSetup.ts, selectCapabilities, lines 195-213). The installation docs explicitly document this as intentional (docs/installation.md, lines 53-57).
  2. After selecting "Agent integration (MCP + guided workflow)", the "Which agents should use REA?" picker also starts with nothing selected (src/cliSetup.ts, selectClients, lines 233-251).
  3. The final "Apply these N changes?" confirm prompt has initialValue: false (src/cliSetup.ts, confirmInteractiveSetup, line 63), so pressing Enter selects "No, cancel".
  4. The --accessible sequential prompts also default to false (selectCapabilitiesAccessibly line 224 and selectClientsAccessibly line 262).

This means a user who runs the wizard and repeatedly presses Enter to accept defaults will make no changes and end up with either "Nothing selected. No changes were made." or "Setup cancelled."

Expected behavior

Because the user has explicitly invoked npx rea-agents setup, the wizard should bias toward the happy path:

  • Pre-select "Agent integration" in the capability picker when detected agents exist.
  • Pre-select all detected agents in the agent picker (or at least the sole detected agent).
  • Default the final confirmation to "Yes, apply".
  • Default accessible yes/no prompts to "Yes" when a clear recommended action exists.

This still preserves the ability to deselect or decline, but avoids the current "everything defaults to cancel" experience.

Suggested changes

  • Use initialValues in the multiselect calls to pre-select agentIntegrationCapabilityId and detected client IDs.
  • Change the final confirm in confirmInteractiveSetup to initialValue: true.
  • Reconsider whether the "capability + agent" two-step is needed when there is a single obvious detected agent; a single confirm would be clearer.
  • Update docs/installation.md to describe the new default-selected behavior and update the affected tests in tests/cliSetup.test.ts.
  • src/cliSetup.ts lines 40-72, 125-167, 195-269
  • docs/installation.md lines 53-63
  • tests/cliSetup.test.ts lines 46-194
