Before submitting

  • I searched the existing issues for a related documentation report.
  • I removed credentials, tokens, private paths, and sensitive target data.

Documentation location

docs/readme/README_ml.md, website/locales/languages.json; introduced by #4792 (af67ad504).

Problem

The new nested Malayalam README retains eight root-relative destinations: LICENSE twice, SECURITY.md, DISCLAIMER.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md and two images. For example, docs/assets/discord.svg resolves under docs/readme/docs/assets instead of docs/assets. The owning docs checker reports link drift. Once those links are repaired, the existing conformance check exposes missing Malayalam registration in the website language inventory. The website loader independently requires exact README/website edition parity.

Expected content

Resolve links relative to the nested document. Preserve the existing inventory contract through the canonical locale registration/catalog/navigation pipeline. An unfinished website catalog must disclose its pending status and use the existing labeled, nonindexable English fallback; do not claim a Malayalam website translation or relax parity checks.

Supporting evidence

Executed npm run docs:check at dc2e8117b (based on bec88b9d7): docs/readme/README_ml.md: documentation links differ from README.md. Reused scripts/lib/docs-facts.mjs readmeLinkTargets/repoRelative to identify eight destinations. After link repair, the conformance test expects README_ml.md in the language inventory. scripts/website_i18n.py languages() separately raises Website languages must match the README language editions. No browser rendering or translation-quality assessment was performed.

Additional context

Detected while validating the independent Apktool #4820 fix. Keep the documentation repair separate. Node 24.18.0, macOS arm64.

@morluto commented on GitHub (Oct 17, 2026):

Fixed in b27e1a74c.

Corrected eight destinations at the nested README boundary and completed the existing locale registry consumers: Malayalam inventory entry, generated catalog, shared website navigation and catalog source references. Existing parsed translations are unchanged. The new 1,728-entry catalog is entirely untranslated and explicitly documented as pending; it uses the established English fallback.

Validation: npm run docs:check passes with the original exact edition-parity test. Full website check passes: 401 HTML pages, 27,790 local references, 380 indexable pages and 19 tests. All 19 generated Malayalam pages independently checked for a visible fallback notice and noindex; none advertised as a translated alternate or included in the sitemap. Two source reviews found no remaining blockers. No browser layout or Malayalam website translation-quality claim.

Validation setup: used the pinned Python website requirements in an isolated cache venv and the existing native Cairo library. Initial full website attempt stopped on Cairo discovery; rerun with the documented library environment passed. An initial direct unittest run lacked the generated website artifact; the complete website workflow generated that prerequisite and all 19 tests then passed. No checks or policies were weakened.
