📄 Description

Summary

Adds a Hinglish (Hindi written in Latin script) translation of the README as
docs/readme/README_hi-Latn.md, links it from the language switcher in every
README, and registers it as a website edition so the language inventory check
passes.

Problem and expected behavior

Many Hindi-speaking developers read and write Hindi in Latin script and mix it
with English technical terms. There is currently no Hindi-family README, so
these readers only have the English one.

Change and scope

  • New docs/readme/README_hi-Latn.md, translated from the current README.md.
Technical terms, commands, and link targets are unchanged.
  • Added [Hinglish](...) to the language switcher in README.md and every
    translated README.
  • Registered hi-Latn ("Hinglish") in website/locales/languages.json with an
untranslated catalog, so /hi-Latn/ pages are English fallbacks marked
noindex. Shared HTML and catalogs were regenerated; other catalogs changed
    only in source line references.
  • Language-code validation now accepts a script subtag such as hi-Latn
    (maintainer commit c46f606).

Not included: translating the website catalog.

Contract and boundary impact

  • Semantic owner and earliest changed stage: not applicable (documentation and
    website language inventory)
  • Contribution scope fit and linked maintainer decision: maintainer @morluto
pushed follow-up fixes to this branch (c46f606, c958337)
  • CLI and MCP/tool-catalog contract: none
  • Provider, bridge, target-format, or platform compatibility: none
  • Evidence, artifact, provenance, or reconstruction contract: none
  • Target selection, authority, upstream behavior, and cleanup details: not
    applicable
  • Generated metadata, package, or installation impact: none

Evidence and regression coverage

  • Tests added or updated: the README test covers the new edition through the
language inventory; scripts/test-website.py covers script-subtag codes.
  • CI on head 39e9dad: CI required, website checks, test shards 1-5, static
checks, docs generation, and build package all pass.
  • @CassieFox23 ran the doc-facts, product-catalog, and website checks plus three
test files on Linux (Node 24 and 26) for 86874f7 and bf0d2c8; all passed.
  • Locally on Windows: link targets and bash examples match README.md, and
oxfmt@0.72.0 --check passes. The full website check could not run on
    Windows (no native Cairo).
  • Not checked: translation quality by a second Hinglish reader, external links.
