Continues the verified patch from #3106 by @geekwolf. GitHub rejected using the contributor's noreply address as the squash author; this maintainer continuation uses my anonymous commit identity and preserves Geekwolf's contribution through a verified noreply co-author trailer. The original branch is unchanged.

Fixes #3058. Supersedes #3106 once this continuation merges.

The release compatibility step applies to the current candidate and keeps the 6.1-to-6.2 guide explicitly historical. Only docs/releasing.md changes (+4/-2), with content identical to the reviewed contributor head e9a5ed9928f5e8393113f50f1464391334367585.

Validation: fresh npm run docs:check passed (five README consistency tests); scoped formatting and git diff --check passed. The original head's CI is green. Source and pinned dependency inputs are unchanged from the reviewed main integration; this continuation still requires its own CI.

Linux, Node.js 24.18.0 / npm 11.16.0. No runtime, provider, schema, authority or release-version change.
