📄 Description

Summary

The closing takeaway of the Touhou reconstruction essay no longer states that RE is in the early days of its industrial revolution. The gettext catalogs are regenerated with the removed string kept as an obsolete entry, like the catalogs already do for other removed strings.

Problem and expected behavior

The essay's takeaway list ended with a statement about the current period of RE's industrial revolution ("We are in the early days of RE's industrial revolution. The methods are still taking shape. There is plenty left to explore."). The request was to remove that period statement. The other four takeaways state methods, so the essay now closes with a method instead of a period framing.

Change and scope

  • website/public/blog/touhou-reconstruction/index.html: remove the fifth takeaway item (7 lines).
  • website/locales/*/messages.po (20 languages) and website/locales/messages.pot: regenerated with python scripts/website.py translations extract. The source message count goes from 1728 to 1727. The removed string stays in each catalog as an obsolete (#~) entry, as the catalogs already do for other removed strings.
  • Not included: no other essay text, no layout or style change, and no reworded translations. Every retained message keeps its previous translation.

Contract and boundary impact

  • Semantic owner and earliest changed stage: the authored English HTML page of the blog essay; the earliest changed stage is that page.
  • Contribution scope fit and linked maintainer decision: documentation-only; no maintainer scope decision is required.
  • CLI and MCP/tool-catalog contract: none.
  • Provider, bridge, target-format, or platform compatibility: none.
  • Evidence, artifact, provenance, or reconstruction contract: none.
  • Target selection, authority, upstream behavior, and cleanup details (if applicable): not applicable.
  • Generated metadata (docs/public/product-catalog.json), package, or installation impact: none. docs/public/product-catalog.json and skills/ are ignored outputs and are not modified here.

Expected effects:

  • Read existing files or captured data.
  • Launch or attach to a process.
  • Inject instrumentation or run scripts/code.
  • Change process memory, registers, files, or configuration.
  • Contact network services.
  • Recover protected code or work around protections.
  • Documentation or usability only; no target interaction.
  • Not sure yet; investigation or maintainer guidance needed.

Evidence and regression coverage

  • Tests added or updated: none. No runtime behavior changes.
  • Base reproduction or other evidence: python scripts/website.py translations check reported 1728 source messages for 20 catalogs before the change and 1727 after it, with no missing and no fuzzy translation in any catalog. ml was already an English fallback catalog before this change and is still marked noindex.
  • User-visible CLI/MCP output (if applicable): not applicable.
  • Remaining proof gaps: the rendered pages were not compared pixel by pixel against a Linux or macOS render, and the sharing card falls back to the host font when DejaVu Sans is not installed. The final step of website.py check cannot pass on this Windows host because of the pre-existing path-separator failure described above, so the command's exit code is 1 here.

For evidence-bearing changes:

  • Observed, derived, and inferred claims remain distinguishable.
  • Artifact identity, source provenance, and failed attempts remain preserved.
  • Unsupported, incomplete, unavailable, or uncertain outcomes remain visible.

Validation performed

  • python scripts/website.py translations check - exit 0; 1727 source messages checked for 20 catalogs; ml reported as the English fallback; no missing and no fuzzy translation.
  • python scripts/website.py check - every step runs: shared HTML checked with 0 pages changed, 399 reading pages prepared in 21 languages, assets/social-card.png prepared at 1200 x 630, sitemap.xml prepared with 380 indexable pages, examples/notes-example.zip built, 401 HTML pages and 27790 local references verified, and the search/sharing metadata, robots.txt and sitemap verified. The final regression step (scripts/test-website.py) runs 19 tests in 818.883 s and reports 2 failures in test_repository_links_accept_aliased_roots_and_reject_escaping_links, so the command exits 1. Those failures are pre-existing and platform-specific: the test expects website/README.md while Windows produces website\README.md. The working tree is clean after the run.
  • python scripts/test-website.py WebsiteMaintenanceChecks.test_repository_links_accept_aliased_roots_and_reject_escaping_links on the base revision (origin/main, 2c3dd946d, in a separate worktree) - exit 1 with the same assertion ('website\\README.md: ...' against the expected 'website/README.md: ...'), which confirms the failures are present on the base revision too and are not caused by this change.
  • git show --stat - 22 files changed: 1 HTML page, 20 messages.po catalogs, 1 messages.pot template.

Compatibility, safety, and release

  • Breaking changes or migration steps: none.
  • Real Hopper/Ghidra, browser, or OS coverage: not applicable; documentation only.
  • Package or release metadata impact: none.
  • Security, privacy, process, or containment review: none. The change touches only a static page and the generated translation catalogs.
