Litellm

Model

Model detail set to merge_reasoning_content_in_choices: true which is required for reasoning to work in open webui

chat completion api - but - via responses bridge

cptr -> chat completions -> litellm -> responses -> openai

Are you sure it's being sent as reasoning_content?

its definitely not sent as reasoning_content but as <think>text</think> tags

Thanks, that confirms it. cptr won’t support <think>...</think> parsing; it’s inherently brittle.

Please check whether LiteLLM can emit reasoning_content instead. That’s effectively the standard OpenAI-compatible way to carry reasoning now. If LiteLLM only supports <think> tags for this bridge, this should be escalated/fixed in LiteLLM.

@tjbck does Open WebUI support reasoning_content already?
