Summary

The macOS desktop app cannot open or preview an authenticated PDF generated in a chat on a remote Open WebUI server. The same file works in a normal browser against the same server.

Environment

  • Open WebUI Desktop for macOS: v0.0.20
  • Remote Open WebUI server: Docker deployment, v0.10.2
  • Connection: direct LAN HTTP
  • File: PDF generated by a tool and attached to an assistant response

Steps

  1. Connect the desktop app to a remote authenticated Open WebUI server.
  2. Generate a PDF attachment in a chat.
  3. Select the file card and open Preview.

Actual behavior

Content shows “No content”; Preview shows “Failed to load PDF.” Download/opening also fails.

Expected behavior

The remote desktop WebView should preserve the authenticated session for /api/v1/files/{file_id}/content, so protected files preview and download as they do in a browser.
