I noticed that in the Terminals project there was an environment variable for setting the tolerations for the terminal pod.

The helm chart does in fact not give the ability to add environment variables. I would simply add the ability under the tag "extraEnvs" which takes a yaml array.

example usage:

operator:
    extraEnvs:
        - TOLERATIONS: "some toleration json"

orchestrator:
    extraEnvs:
        - SOME_OTHER_ENV: "some other env"

I am unsure if the orchestrator also has any environment variables but I would simply add that function in case someone builds their own custom orchestrator image and needs to read environment variables
