  • I am using the latest version of mcpo.

mcpo Version

1.0.0

Open WebUI Version (if applicable)

v0.6.34

Operating System

docker - RedHat

Browser (if applicable)

No response

Confirmation

  • I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
  • I am using the latest version of both MCPO and Open WebUI.
  • I have included the browser console logs.
  • I have included the Docker container logs.
  • I have listed steps to reproduce the bug in detail.

Expected Behavior

I have tried to integrate the github-mcp-server. When I am trying to display a file from a repo in a prompt of openweb ui I wanted to see this file.

Actual Behavior

I have tried to integrate the github-mcp-server. When I am trying to display a file from a repo in a prompt of openweb ui I receive this message "Embedded resource not supported yet". Not sure if this is a bug or if there is something missing in the mcpo implementation. Can you check?

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Start github-mcp-server with mcpo
  2. Bind it an openweb ui
  3. Try to display some sources

Logs & Screenshots

From open Web UI:
Ich kann den Inhalt nicht anzeigen, da das von mir verwendete Tool (github-mcp) nach dem erfolgreichen Herunterladen der Datei die Meldung "Embedded resource not supported yet" zurückgegeben hat. Das bedeutet, dass die Funktion zum Abrufen des Dateiinhalts das direkte Anzeigen des Inhalts in diesem Fall nicht unterstützt, obwohl der Download selbst erfolgreich war.

The container logs show nothing significant.

@OneFreemanWill commented on GitHub (Jan 26, 2026):

Still experiencing this as of January 2026 with the remote API (api.githubcopilot.com/mcp/).

File content requests return:

"successfully downloaded text file (SHA: ...)"
"Embedded resource not supported yet."

It seems the content is returned as an embedded resource, but MCPO doesn't yet support reading it.
