Check Existing Issues

  • I have searched the existing issues and discussions.
  • I am using the latest version of mcpo.

mcpo Version

v0.0.10

Open WebUI Version (if applicable)

v0.6.2

Operating System

docker python:3.12-slim-bookworm

Browser (if applicable)

No response

Confirmation

  • I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
  • I am using the latest version of both MCPO and Open WebUI.
  • I have included the browser console logs.
  • I have included the Docker container logs.
  • I have listed steps to reproduce the bug in detail.

Expected Behavior

When I start the mcpo service with config.json, I expect to be able to use all the tools in open webui.

Actual Behavior

Hello. I am trying to present more than one tool at the same time by starting the mcpo application with the config.json file. The service starts successfully.

Docker container logs:

uvx mcpo --host 0.0.0.0 --port 8000 --config /app/config/config.json
Starting MCP OpenAPI Proxy with config file: /app/config/config.json
INFO: Started server process [578]
INFO: Waiting for application startup.
INFO: Application startup complete.
INFO: Uvicorn running on http://0.0.0.0:8000 (Press CTRL+C to quit)
INFO: 10.0.0.2:12557 - "GET /openapi.json HTTP/1.1" 200 OK

And I confirm that the service is running via the browser. http://172.28.247.14:8000/openapi.json:

Then I enter the open webui settings interface and confirm that it is communicating successfully.

Image

Then when I want to use the tool in a model, the tool details are not shown in the list. It only communicates with the mcpo server, but the tool list is not shown. Only the description in openapi.json is shown. This is not a tool list.

Image

Actually I would like to see a tool list like the one below. This was taken from the official documentation site.(https://docs.openwebui.com/openapi-servers/open-webui)
Image

Finally, I want to do one more test. I start mcpo with only one mcp service, not with config.json.

uvx mcpo --port 8000 -- uvx mcp-server-time --local-timezone=America/New_York

This time, as I expected, the path is filled in openapi.json

Image

Then, when I enter the open webui interface, this serfer tool list comes as I expected.

Image

Steps to Reproduce

  1. start mcpo server on docker
  2. connect from open webui to mcpo service
  3. try use tool in a llm model
