Check Existing Issues

  • I have searched the existing issues and discussions.
  • I am using the latest version of mcpo.

mcpo Version

1.0

Open WebUI Version (if applicable)

No response

Operating System

Debian 12

Browser (if applicable)

No response

Confirmation

  • I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
  • I am using the latest version of both MCPO and Open WebUI.
  • I have included the browser console logs.
  • I have included the Docker container logs.
  • I have listed steps to reproduce the bug in detail.

Expected Behavior

Trying to run https://github.com/u14app/deep-research
Tried adding it using streamable-http and sse
streamable-http throws another unrelated error, but sse does not work using mcpo although it should work

Actual Behavior

Running deep-research from above using sse endpoint throws an method not found error when trying to run a deep-research

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install deep-research container (using docker-compose)
  2. Add to mcpo config using sse
  3. restart mcpo
  4. Try to do deep-research (either through mcpo swagger ui or through open-webui if integrated)
  5. See error

Not a public endpoint, so hard to troubleshoot what's going on there with your specific setup. Out of curiosity, I spun up deep-research and tried it like this, it looks like their SSE implementation is bad. It connects initially and then throws a 500. Streamable-HTTP worked fine for me!

Hey, the error appears only when you actually try to use the mcp endpoint. Normally it doesnt throw the error

Even the project maintainer says the same - their SSE implementation doesn't work. Streamable HTTP worked for me even calling the endpoint, if you're hitting an issue there please share the details:

From: https://github.com/u14app/deep-research/issues/115

The implementation of the /api/mcp/sse mode does have some problems. Since vercel cannot save the id if it is not connected to the kv cache, the state will be lost on some mcp clients because the corresponding session id cannot be found.

Therefore I recommend you to use streamable-http mode instead of sse

I know, i have read that, but I am neither using Vercel nor is streamable-http working either. I have shared as much detail as I could

Streamable HTTP is working just fine, I just had it write a research plan. Feel free to reopen if you have any logs or even better a screen recording that you can share!
