Hi,

I like this repo. Do you have any interest of using uv as package and project manager?

I guess one of the benefits (besides really good package managing) is, that you don't have to take care of venv yourself, but uv does that for you. Also setting the required python version can be managed with uv.

I guess you know all the benefits, as in open-webui there is also uv available (along wiht pip).

@Classic298 commented on GitHub (Sep 9, 2026):

It already works. The suite is a plain pyproject, so uv sync --extra postgres and uv run pytest run as-is, and CI already installs with uv. What is missing is the README saying so and a committed lockfile.

The one thing uv cannot take over is the Open WebUI backend dependencies. The unit tests import the checkout under test, so those come from that checkout's requirements.txt at whatever ref you are testing and get installed on top, same as now:

uv sync --extra postgres
uv pip install -r ../open-webui/backend/requirements.txt
uv run pytest unit
