@99991 commented on GitHub (Mar 30, 2023):

This error happens when the downloaded model has been corrupted for some reason.

Here is the place where the error occurs: github.com/openai/CLIP@a9b1bf5920/clip/clip.py (L70)

Here are the links for the models:

github.com/openai/CLIP@a9b1bf5920/clip/clip.py (L30)

You can check whether the downloaded model is correct by running sha256sum and comparing it to the corresponding value from the clip.py file, e.g. sha256sum ~/.cache/clip/ViT-B-32.pt should be 40d365715913c9da98579312b702a82c18be219cc2a73407c4526f58eba950af.

For me, it's happening because the download is getting aborted prematurely.

If that issue persists, you could try downloading the files with a different program which supports resuming of downloads and placing the downloaded file in the directory ~/.cache/clip/.

Here you can find the download links to the individual models:

github.com/openai/CLIP@a9b1bf5920/clip/clip.py (L30-L40)
