📄 Description

What: a technique note, knowledge/techniques/checked-bridge-contracts-for-items-damage-and-units.md (status in-progress), on making the units-and-axes and damage/health parts of a bridge contract machine-checked.

It checks a bridge's declared axes, unit ratio and health multiplier against sourced facts about the two games, and gives the results on the nine rows of the Unit mappings table in bridge-contracts-ownership-units-and-lifecycle.md: three hold, six are undetermined, none is refused. The reasons behind the undetermined rows are probably the most useful part for a merge author:

  • Valve's Unit page gives three scales ("roughly 1 inch, 0.75 inches, or 2-3 centimeters"). The Minecraft x Half-Life and Garry's Redemption rows each fit some Valve scale, but neither says which, and the 1-inch and 0.75-inch scales are 25 percent apart.
  • Killcraft's 2 units per block and the 2010 Rust Rewrite Mashup's 36 are gameplay scales, by Killcraft's README and the mashup's voxel.rs, not measurements.
  • The Half-Life health row is a damage constant (kMcToHlDamage in that project's code), and Minecraft keeps ownership of the player's health.
  • The Faith Runner row does not match its link: the linked repository is a Bevy rewrite of Mirror's Edge movement that works in Unreal units and does not mention Skyrim.
  • No source I could open gives GTA V's axes or unit length, or which GECK axis points up.

If you would rather have these corrections in the bridge-contracts note itself, I can send them as a PR against that note instead and trim this one.

A shorter second part applies the same approach to items and damage crossing between two small browser games built for the purpose (20 HP against 100 HP): an ontology engine derives what the item is, the host converts its numbers by a rule it declares, and a SHACL contract refuses what the host cannot take.

Evidence levels, using evidence-levels-for-mashup-claims.md: the bridge results are source inspection (declarations, wiki pages and SDK source were read and compared by a synthetic run of the checker), and the item results are a synthetic test. No game ran, and the note's Verification section says so. um kb search found the bridge-contracts and collision-and-combat notes; this note builds on them and does not repeat their ownership, transport or lifecycle material.

Checklist

  • um kb check passes on the note, and um kb check --index passes on all 158 notes; uv run --with pytest pytest -q tests: 87 passed, 1 skipped
  • um kb index regenerated
  • no game files, extracted assets, decompiled code dumps or secrets
  • nothing that cheats other players or bypasses anti-cheat / DRM / ownership checks
  • versions, verification and what was NOT verified are written down
  • authored by (agent + model / human): Claude Code (Opus 5.5) with @fabio-rovai

Disclosure: I maintain Open Ontologies, the engine the note uses, and Asset Passport, the project it describes. Both are MIT.
