Expected Behavior
Mirror setting should work, but it seems every time I update the desktop, it fails every time.
That's why I want Proxy setting in the Desktop
https://github.com/Comfy-Org/desktop/issues/1105
Here is my demo.
Actual Behavior
Mirror setting didn't work. Even when I set the VPN to global mode, it still failed.

To address the issue with the mirror setting failing after updates in the ComfyUI Desktop application, especially in a Chinese network environment, you can manually replace the default mirror with an alternative one. If the default Python install mirror fails, you can use the following alternative mirror:
This URL can be set in your
comfy.settings.jsonfile to avoid the 403 Forbidden error during installation [1][2].Regarding proxy settings, while specific instructions for configuring proxy settings are not provided, using a custom GitHub proxy as mentioned above can help improve connectivity during installation. Additionally, the issue you linked suggests that adding proxy settings to the menu could be a potential solution to help users experiencing connectivity issues.
To reply, just mention @dosu.
Docs are dead. Just use Dosu.

Could you please confirm if this error is showing up only after updating, or every time you launch?
The issue is the code running this troubleshooting step is separate, and does not actually read the mirror settings. It needs to be implemented.
@comfyui-wiki commented on GitHub (May 15, 2025):
Only after the updating.
There are many users in the WeChat group who have the same experience as me during the update. So, we prefer to use the portable version rather than the desktop version. But for Mac users, the desktop version may be their only option, since a lot of users may not know how to manually install.
The only thing we can do is try to launch ComfyUI again and again until it finally succeeds once.
This issue has existed for a long time.
I think it's a network issue on my end. Only when I set the VPN to tun mode will it update successfully. The global mode doesn't work.
Many users may not have a VPN, or their VPNs don't support the tun mode.
In China, we need to use Pypi mirrors like

Hi, @webfiltered! In fact, even a fresh installation of Comfy Desktop does not use a mirror source. I set the Pytorch mirror address to https://mirrors.aliyun.com/pytorch-wheels/cu128/, but it is still downloaded from download.pytorch.org.
@webfiltered commented on GitHub (May 15, 2025):
Really need to get to the bottom of this. App updates should not give you the troubleshooting screen; they should load the auto-update screen. If you are getting troubleshooting after every update, something unexpected is wrong here - it's not just a network issue.
Ah, yes, that is definitely also a thing. I was constantly turning Veee+'s global mode on/off, depending on which site I was trying to access. Very frustrating; ended up needing some fancy routing to make some things work at all.
@webfiltered commented on GitHub (May 15, 2025):
Thanks for the report. This really needs to be its own issue - created.

Hi, @comfyui-wiki. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the desktop team manage their backlog and am marking this issue as stale.
