📄 Description

Adds Parallel as a Web Search source, letting users search with their own Parallel API key and include page titles, source URLs and excerpts in chat context.

Users select Parallel in Web Search settings, set their API key and enable the extension. The integration uses the Parallel Search API in fast mode through SillyTavern's server, with credentials stored in its per-user secret manager.

Changes

  • Adds the source selector, key control and setup documentation.
  • Formats results for the existing triggers, /websearch, function tool and Visit Links paths. Text respects the configured prompt budget, capped at 20,000 characters; images are not supported.
  • Shows actionable authentication, credit, rate-limit and timeout errors. Failed requests are not cached.
  • Includes source and prompt budget in search cache keys so changing either cannot reuse incompatible results.
  • Disables Parallel on older builds without its credential definition and displays an update hint.

Requires the server support in https://github.com/SillyTavern/SillyTavern/pull/6098. Please merge the backend first.

Validation

Extension lint passed. Browser checks against the companion SillyTavern build used API fixtures and covered:

  • Key setup, removal and state after reload.
  • Search commands, backtick/phrase/regex triggers and direct function-tool invocation.
  • Visit Links, budget truncation, missing titles, duplicate URLs and invalid URL schemes.
  • Cache separation by source and budget, empty responses, rate-limit failures and recovery.
  • A simulated older build without the Parallel credential definition, with existing sources still selectable.

The companion backend's full unit suite passed (441 tests). A live Parallel API call and a model-generated tool call have not been tested.
