Describe the bug
After downloading, unzipping, running and successfully installing Amnezia VPN, nothing happens when you click on the app icon

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install Rocky Linux 9.4
  2. Download the archive and unzip it
  3. Run the installer
  4. SELinux error will pop up, do what it asks to allow the file to access something
    • sudo ausearch -c 'AmneziaVPN_Linu' --raw | audit2allow -M my-AmneziaVPNLinu
    • sudo semodule -X 300 -i my-AmneziaVPNLinu.pp
  5. Run AmneziaVPN_Linux_Installer.bin and install AmneziaVPN
  6. The AmneziaVPN icon should appear in the overview (application list)
  7. Click twice and nothing happens

Expected behavior
The application should have started correctly and shown its window

Log files
AmneziaVPN-ldd.log
AmneziaVPN-journalctl.log

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Rocky Linux
    • (But I found that the bug also works on Fedora, but I haven't really looked into it, maybe the solution we find will work there too)
  • Version: 9.4

Additional context
I'm already working on a solution to this problem, however, I can't promise that I'll be able to find a solution. So this issue will be a reminder that the application does not run correctly on Rocky

Well, according to AmneziaVPN-ldd.log, the Qt6 libraries and libOpenGL.so.0 are missing.

Yes, we need to set the EPEL repo:

sudo dnf install epel-release

To install most of the Qt6 packages:

sudo dnf install qt6-qtbase

But the new log shows that not all packages are installed yet:

libQt6RemoteObjects.so.6 => not found
libQt6QuickControls2.so.6 => not found
libQt6Core5Compat.so.6 => not found
libQt6Widgets.so.6 => not found
libQt6Gui.so.6 => not found
libOpenGL.so.0 => not found
libQt6Qml.so.6 => not found

Long story short:
To solve this problem, do the following:

  1. Add an EPEL repository:
sudo dnf install epel-release
  1. From it, install required Qt6 libraries:
sudo dnf install qt6-qtbase qt6-qtdeclarative qt6-qtremoteobjects qt6-qt5compat
  1. Try running the application again

This solution may also work on Fedora, I can't say for sure
